Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke was detained by Delhi Police on Friday morning as he was about to give a speech in the national capital. The CJP leader was brought to his residence in Delhi on Friday as police served him a notice regarding prohibitory orders and permission for the planned Tiranga march.
Dipke questioned the police about the notice in a video that went viral as he was being sent to custody for the second time this week.
A Notice Before the March
As per the notice, prohibitory orders under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita were in force in the area where the leader had planned to take out the rally. It also mentioned that the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had not given permission for the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' rally.
Police further warned Dipke that taking out the rally would be a violation of the prohibitory orders and asked him to refrain from doing so.
They clarified that waving the national flag was not a crime, however, the rally along with the gathering of people would be a violation of the orders.
The CJP founder was also reminded that the national flag needed to be given respect as per the Flag Code.
'What Kind of Accusation Have You Levelled Against Me?'
In the video, the 31-year-old CJP founder can be seen sitting on an egg-yolk coloured sofa in his living room. He is seen wearing a white T-shirt with Gandhi's image and jeans. There is a small Indian national flag draped over his shoulder as the police stand before him.
"What kind of accusation have you levelled against me?“Kya aarop laga diya hai aapne mere upar?” asking an officer, translating to English. Several papers can be seen on a glass-topped table as Dipke reads the notice and questions the police about it.
It must be noted that the video shows the fine line between waving the national flag and taking out a rally without permission from the authorities in Delhi.
Arrests of CJP Members Preceded the Rally
The rally came after CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested and sent to judicial custody after they allegedly raised the national flag at Jantar Mantar on October 13. This happened after the location lost its status as an authorised protest venue, as per PTI.
Dipke, too, had faced police action after reaching Delhi from Mumbai to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
