The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday paid tribute to the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the National Police Commemoration Day function at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi. The home minister paid respect to the brave hearts who sacrificed their lives, and appreciated the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) for guarding the borders of the country, ensuring internal security and conducting peaceful elections.
Amit Shah Remembers 36,852 Police Martyrs
While addressing the gathering, Shah informed the people that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation for the construction of the National Police Memorial back in 2018. He said that the memorial was a pledge taken by the government to mark the sacrifices made by the police personnel who laid down their lives while serving the nation.
He said that the memorial would serve as a reminder for the younger generation to always be dedicated and determined to serve the country.
The home minister said that the memorial has become a pilgrim centre for people to seek the blessings of the brave hearts who sacrificed their lives for the country.
He also said that 154 more brave personnel were added to the list of martyrs this year.
Paying respect to the martyrs, he appreciated the dedication of police personnel and said that the whole nation is grateful to them for their sacrifices.
Shah Praises CAPF for Securing Borders
The home minister also appreciated the CAPF personnel for their services rendered in guarding the borders of the country.
He said that they have been serving the nation with sincerity and are always on the frontline of every challenge to protect and safeguard the nation.
Their dedication ensures the safety of every citizen of the country, added Shah.
The home minister said that CAPF personnel are always away from their homes either for elections, festivals, public gatherings or any other large-scale events to ensure the security of the people.
The minister claimed that without CAPF forces, the country cannot think of conducting elections, upholding internal security and protecting its borders.
Bengal Elections Get Special Mention
Shah appreciated CAPF forces for their role in conducting the West Bengal Assembly elections with absolute devotion and dedication. He claimed that the elections were conducted without the loss of a single life.
The home minister said that the elections were conducted in a manner that was not possible in the past.
He added that the whole country has always witnessed large-scale violence during the polling in the state.
However, the minister claimed that for the first time in the history of elections in Bengal, not a single life was lost.
The National Police Commemoration Day event was a proud moment for the entire nation as the sacrifices of the police personnel for the country have always been acknowledged with respect and reverence. Amit Shah appreciated the forces for their role in internal and external security while recalling the history of Indian Police.
