Early Life

Yash Dabas was born in Kanjhawala, a village located on the north-western edge of Delhi, India. He grew up in Delhi and developed an early interest in sports, particularly tennis. His sporting background later became an important part of his journey before he entered student politics.

Career

Yash Dabas started his career as an international-level tennis player. He represented India in International Tennis Federation (ITF) events across countries including Spain, Australia and Serbia.

He also represented Delhi University at the All-India University Games and the Khelo India University Games.

Later, Dabas entered student politics with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). On September 19, 2026, he was elected President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) for the 2026-27 term.

He secured 24,576 votes, defeating his closest rival, Vijay Shankar Meena of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), by a margin of 2,053 votes.

Following his election, Dabas outlined plans involving student safety audits, new hostels, dedicated housing for female students and a 24/7 student grievance helpline.

Yash Dabas completed his graduation from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Buddhist Studies at Delhi University.
