The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has stopped the food licences of five restaurants and food shops that are located at the Mumbai Cricket Association premises because of violations of food safety and cleanliness rules.

The five shops that are being punished are called Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing and Clubway & Pastry Counter.

According to the Food and Drug Administration the shops were checked on August 20 as part of an effort to look at food safety rules in hotels, restaurants, eating places and other places where food is served.
During the check officials said they found problems about cleanliness and about how food is handled and stored.

According to the organization 11 food businesses across the state were dealt with including the five shops that're at the Mumbai Cricket Association.
During the drive Food and Drug Administration officials checked 45 hotels, restaurants eating places and roadside eateries.
The organization also gave warning letters to 33 businesses telling them to fix the problems and follow food safety rules better.Also officials made 25 surprise visits as part of the continuing effort.
