A Goa Airbnb host went viral after sharing a video showing the shocking condition in which guests left her apartment after checking out. The video, posted on Instagram, has sparked a debate online about tourist behaviour and the importance of maintaining cleanliness while staying in rental properties.

According to the host, the guests stayed at her 2BHK apartment in Calangute for four days. When they checked out, the flat was left messy and unhygienic, despite the host arranging professional cleaning once during their stay.

Apartment Left in a Shocking Condition

In the viral video, the host gave viewers a tour of the apartment, showing leftover food scattered across tables, dirty dishes piled up in the kitchen, empty bottles, snack wrappers, and chips spread all over the floor.

The apartment was in such poor condition that the host described it as a "kachra peti" (garbage dump).

While recording the video, she said:

"This video is for those who come to Goa and book Airbnb properties. Today's guests checked out from my 2BHK apartment, and after seeing the condition of the house, I wondered how anyone could live like this."

She added that every corner of the apartment was filled with food waste and garbage.

Even Mid-Stay Cleaning Didn't Help

The Airbnb host revealed that she had arranged for the apartment to be cleaned once in the middle of the guests' stay.

However, according to her, the guests once again left the apartment in a messy condition before checking out.

She also mentioned that the housekeeping staff had already removed several empty beer bottles before she recorded the video, meaning the apartment was originally in an even worse state.

Host Shocked by Guests' Response

The host said she confronted the guests after seeing the condition of the apartment.

Instead of apologising, the guests reportedly dismissed the issue and responded:

"It's only a little dirty. What's the big deal?"

Their reaction left the host shocked, and she urged travellers to be more responsible and respectful while staying in someone else's property.

Viral Video Sparks Online Debate

The Instagram video quickly went viral and received thousands of reactions from social media users.

Many people criticised the guests, saying tourists should maintain basic cleanliness while staying in hotels or Airbnb properties.

One user commented:

"No wonder Indians are criticised in many countries because of poor civic sense."

Another suggested:

"Leave such guests with a negative review on Airbnb so that other hosts don't accept their bookings in the future."

A third user wrote:

"We face this issue almost every day. Many guests simply don't care about cleanliness."

Social Media Calls for Responsible Tourism

The incident has once again started a conversation about responsible tourism and guest behaviour in vacation rentals.

Many users urged travellers to respect the homes they stay in and leave properties clean before checking out. Others also encouraged Airbnb hosts to leave honest reviews for guests who damage or leave rental homes dirty, helping future hosts avoid similar experiences.

The video continues to gain attention on social media, with several Airbnb hosts and travellers sharing their own experiences and opinions about guest behaviour and responsible travel.
