New Delhi (India) September 30: The INDIA bloc said that its MPs will march to the Election Commission on October 6 as part of their agitation against vote theft. Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha said that the opposition parties will hold a Save Democracy rally from October 2 to October 8.

These remarks are in response to a report by the Indian Express, according to which electoral commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi filed objections 14 times in a period of 10 months. The objections related to orders and decisions relating to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted by then Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

INDIA Bloc Seeks Court Action

Mr. Kharge said that the INDIA leaders have written a letter to the apex court seeking directions to the court to fast track the case against SIR and electoral malpractice.

He said the government was attacking democratic institutions and alleged that the Election Commission had bowed down to the government. He added that the elections are being rigged unfairly and oppositions' functioning is being affected.

"We will hold a five big rallies and a date and place of which would be decided. We will tell people how the government is snatching the right of the people to elect their government for running the country," he said.

"Now everyone is realising that what Rahul ji was saying is correct and it is attracting attention. First Prime Minister Narendra Modi did 'notebandi' now doing 'votebandi', taking away people's rights," he added.

Banerjee Flags Bengal Irregularities

Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC's Member of Parliament, said that the glitches were occurring all over India and in West Bengal, in particular, after a meeting of all INDIA bloc leaders.

“The remaining 2 Election Commissioners have stated it, so there must be some truth in their words. Earlier, only political parties used to say it; today, the Election Commissioners are saying it. Irregularities are happening everywhere, more so in Bengal,” Banerjee said.

BJP Questions INDIA Bloc Unity

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted that the INDIA bloc is falling apart and that the leaders have denied Mr. Rahul Gandhi's leadership as SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav and others did not attend the INDIA meeting on Wednesday.

“Leave the INDIA bloc aside; even Congress leaders and members of the party are not willing to accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader. Rahul himself, during Congress Working Committee meetings, keeps pleading: ‘Accept me as your leader, trust me’,” Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
