New Delhi (India) October 13: Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has spoken against the Centre after some of his members were detained in Delhi. Delhi Police arrested CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on Tuesday when they were trying to enter Jantar Mantar.

He said, "Our team went to Jantar Mantar this morning and hoisted the tricolor. When did hoisting the tricolor become a violation? Whoever thinks that hoisting the tricolor at Jantar Mantar is a violation is a traitor. And if Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka, Ajinkya Shinde, and the others who were arrested for hoisting the tricolor are charged, then there should be strict action taken against it. How can you arrest someone for hoisting the tricolor? What kind of country is this? What kind of rule is this?"

Abhijeet Dipke Calls Detention A Sign Of Dictatorship

The CJP leader also called the detention as the biggest instance of a dictator mentality and that the government is using public spaces as its personal property.

"The dictatorship doesn't want anyone to go to Jantar Mantar and hoist the tricolor. They think the whole country is their personal property. It is not like that; Jantar Mantar belongs to the people of this country, the 140 crore Indians," he said.

Warns Of Protests Across The Country

Addressing the announcement of Jantar Mantar being de-notified as a protest site, Dipke said it will not end protests but it will create more protest sites across the country.

"Narendra Modi's fear is evident from the fact that he has removed Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site. He thinks protests will stop if Jantar Mantar is no longer a designated protest site, but that is not going to happen. Jantar Mantars will now emerge across the country," he said.

Delhi Police Names Three Alternative Sites

The Delhi Police on Monday excluded Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest spots in an official statement and announced three alternative venues for protests - Ramlila Ground, CBD Ground and Burari Ground.

The notice added that the MHA had formed a committee to examine alternate locations where people could have the freedom to organise protests. Following the recommendations of the committee, the MHA de-notified Jantar Mantar as a protest site.
