Kyle Harrison Exits The Game Due to Calf Cramps

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Kyle Harrison was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after suffering cramps in both calves. The injury halted what was his best MLB performance.

The Brewers later determined that Harrison's early exit was because of calf cramps and not a serious injury. It came as a relief for fans who feared another setback for the talented left-handed pitcher.

Historic Night Ends Early

Harrison looked unstoppable before leaving the game. He struck out 10 batters in five innings, allowing only one hit, one walk and no earned runs and threw 69 pitches.

His biggest performance was eight consecutive batters struck out and he was just two strikeouts away from matching the MLB record of 10 straight strikeouts held by Tom Seaver, Aaron Nola and Corbin Burnes.

Unfortunately, the injury took him down that night, before he could begin to go down in history.

Brewers Continue Dominance

When Harrison left the mound, Chad Patrick replaced him and kept the Brewers in control. Milwaukee's pitching staff continued to dominate the Pirates, extending the team's strikeout streak before finally allowing a walk.

Harrison’s performance was a major factor in keeping the Brewers ahead of the pack in the series finale.

Strong Comeback After Injury

This was Harrison's first Major League start since July 8 after recovering from left forearm extensor tendinopathy. Before returning, he made a successful rehab appearance with five scoreless innings.

The 24-year-old has had such a successful year despite a couple of weeks injury-ravaged. He is one of the team’s most reliable starting pitchers now that he joined the Brewers during the offseason.

His most recent performance showed why Milwaukee has high hopes for him throughout the remainder of the season.

Brewers Receive Positive News

While Harrison missed the chance to make MLB history, it is encouraging to see that his exit was caused by muscle cramps and not a major injury.

The Brewers will now hope their in-form pitcher recovers quickly and continues his outstanding performances as the team pushes toward the postseason.
