About Mikel Oyarzabal

Mikel Oyarzabal is one of Spain's finest footballers and the captain of Real Sociedad. He was born on 21 April 1997 in Eibar, Basque Country, Spain. Since making his professional debut in 2015, he has remained loyal to Real Sociedad, becoming one of the club's greatest modern players.

Oyarzabal is a versatile forward who can play as a winger, striker, or attacking midfielder. His excellent finishing, intelligent movement, leadership qualities, and penalty-taking ability have made him one of the most dependable players in Spanish football.

On the international stage, he made his senior debut for Spain in 2016. He represented Spain in UEFA Euro tournaments and became a national hero after scoring the winning goal in the UEFA Euro 2024 final. He also featured prominently in Spain's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Away from football, Oyarzabal is known for valuing education. He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Deusto while continuing his football career, something that is uncommon among elite footballers. He is also fluent in Spanish, Basque, and English.

His wife, Ainhoa Larrauri, is a medical doctor. The couple keeps their family life private and welcomed their first child in 2023. Oyarzabal often credits his parents and family for keeping him grounded throughout his career.

Despite receiving interest from Europe's biggest clubs, Oyarzabal has chosen to remain with Real Sociedad, making him one of football's rare one-club stars. His loyalty, professionalism, humility, and leadership continue to inspire young footballers around the world.
