New Delhi (India) February 9:A minor accident went viral during a road rage incident in the Hulimavu district of Bengaluru on Sunday, when two young women reportedly attacked a cab driver.
Scooter Grazes Cab, Sparks Heated Argument
It didn't stop there: the women broke the traffic on a road in Bengaluru, they also assaulted the cab driver, also abusing onlookers who had gathered when their two-wheeler brushed his car on Saturday night leading to an argument.
The women had been coming from a gathering with friends when their scooter grazed the cab, as police reports stated, which led to a showdown with the driver, whom police told a local news outlet.
When the driver asked them questions, the women reportedly abused him and tried to leave. The locals intervened and stopped them. During the confrontation, the women are accused of attacking the driver's hand with a chain and making obscene gestures.
Videos Show Obscene Gestures and Kicks
Videos of the situation showed the women abusing in the middle of a crowd while the rest of the crowd was gathering, creating a scene. The woman appeared to be intoxicated in those videos as far as it can be seen, but police have not confirmed. The video shows one of the women kicking some men as they attempt to take her from there. She continues to make obscene gestures and yells abuses at the crowd even after being ushered into the police car.
Police Arrest Duo at Hulimavu Station
The residents reported the matter to the authorities who registered a case at Hulimavu Police Station. The two women are Lisa and Mathew and are under arrest and are being questioned.
Officers promptly held the women and filed a case for assault, public nuisance and drunken misconduct. All of this is to be probed in further detail, investigations now include the details of the collision, the women’s intoxication, and their potential charges against them.
CCTV Probe Underway
Authorities ask witnesses to provide information and give assurances they will go to the police to investigate, pledging to make sure incidents like this don’t re-stain the city’s streets. The women accused are residents of the JP Nagar and Koramangala areas and came back after visiting a hotel with friends, reports said.
Investigation and analysis of the CCTV footage in the area and statements of witnesses are under way to determine exactly what happened, police said. The police also said that additional legal action would be taken according to the investigation's results.
