New Delhi (India) March 18:Israel has announced that its military strikes have resulted in the death of Ali Larijani, a prominent Iranian official, during overnight air attacks on Iran. Israel's Defense Minister Katz, confirmed Larijani's death, marking him as one of the highest-ranking Iranian figures to lose their life in the ongoing conflict. However, Iran has yet to verify this claim.

Handwritten Post Doubts Survival

Adding to the uncertainty, reports have surfaced suggesting that Larijani's fate is still unclear. Shortly after Israel's announcement, a handwritten social media post from Larijani appeared, addressed to Iranian sailors, leading many to question whether he is indeed alive. The note, written in Persian, honors the Iranian Navy personnel who lost their lives in a recent U.S. submarine attack, acknowledging their sacrifice. Notably, the message neither denies nor confirms Larijani's death, and Iranian authorities have not provided any updates on his condition.

“The martyrdom of the brave members of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic in Dena is part of the sacrifices of the proud nation that has emerged in this time of struggle against international oppressors. Their memory will always remain in the heart of the Iranian nation, and these martyrdoms will strengthen the foundations of the Army of the Islamic Republic for years to come within the structure of the armed forces," Larijani wrote.

Larijani, aged 67, played a crucial role in Iran’s security landscape, especially after the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28 . He has been responsible for shaping Iran’s security policies and has led the transitional council during this turbulent period.
As a senior politician, Larijani has served as the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, a position he first held from 2005 to 2007, and has also been the Speaker of Iran's Parliament for several years. His extensive experience spans Iran's military, political, and strategic sectors, including involvement in nuclear negotiations and leadership within state broadcasting and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
