New Delhi (India) February 18:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a series of high-level meetings with global leaders and industry heads on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at the national capital, solidifying India’s lead on artificial intelligence and cementing India’s partnership with global and developing countries.
Meeting with Serbia's President Vucic
Modi had discussions with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic during the Summit. The two leaders explored pathways for enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, AI, fintech, education, agriculture, tourism and people-to-people partnerships with both the government.
They also traded perspectives on issues of common interest in the region and internationally. India and Serbia are long-time friends and the ties are based on close connections between the people, the External Affairs Ministry said.
Strengthening India-Spain Strategic Links
The Prime Minister also had a meeting with Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, at Hyderabad House. Both the leaders spoke out on numerous issues that seek to strengthen the India-Spain link up. Central topics discussed included trade and economy, digital innovation, health, climate action and education, among others, the External Affairs Ministry said.
Modi said that in a social media post, he and the two were discussing ways to promote the India-Spain friendship, particularly in the fields of defence, security, technology and others. The historic Free Trade Agreement with the EU, he said, is to transform the economic partnership with Spain and generate new opportunities for the people of both countries.
Advancing India-Bhutan Development Partnership
Mr Modi and his Bhutanese counterpart Tshering Tobgay sat down at the table to talk about what progress had been made in bilateral cooperation in energy, connectivity, development partnership and people-to-people connect.
The two parties also emphasized their readiness to work collaboratively to further enhance the India-Bhutan partnership based on trust, goodwill and mutual respect.
Collaboration with Finland on Ethical AI
The Prime Minister was also in conversation with the Prime Minister of Finland Antti Petteri Orpo. They focused on cooperation on sustainability and digitalisation, AI research, ethical innovation and how Indian talent can contribute to a better bilateral relationship.
The two leaders reinforced their dedication to responsible, talent-led AI and tech-enabled solutions for a sustainable tomorrow. They also discussed expanding cooperation in upcoming technologies, including 6G, innovation, clean energy, biofuels and the circular economy.
