New Delhi (India) June 30: An FIR has been filed against Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh, his father, and his driver after an incident with a staffer whom Shashank said took his family’s photos and videos while working in their home as a private cook, and there was no physical assault.

"No, we didn't hold him hostage... It is true that he arrived claiming to be a cook, but he wasn't a cook at all. He didn't know how to cook; he was just here to have fun, taking videos and photos, and even going into my room," Shashank said to ANI.

FIR Filed Against Shashank, Father and Driver

Additional DCP (Zone-1) Rashmi Agrawal Dubey said that an FIR has been lodged at Ratibad police station following a complaint against Shashank Singh.

“An FIR was registered yesterday at the Ratibad police station based on a complaint regarding an incident of assault. Three individuals have been named as accused in the case. The names include Shailesh Singh, his son, and their driver. His son's (cricketer Shashank Singh) name is included as well," Dubey said.

"A medical examination of the victim has been conducted, and further action will be taken based on the medical report. If the medical report indicates any serious injury, action will be taken accordingly. Prima facie, the incident does not appear to involve a severe assault," she added.

Cook Alleges Assault Over Mobile Phone Dispute

The FIR states that on June 25, the Singh family hired Vipendra Singh Tomar as a private cook on a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 plus food and lodging. Tomar, the complainant, alleged in the FIR that the family started finding faults with his cooking from day one and confiscated his mobile phone. He asked Singh to return his mobile.

"But he refused. When I went back to my room, Shailesh Singh, Shashank Singh and their driver Mishra came there, assaulted me physically, abused me, threw me out of the house and forced me to transfer Rs 1,000 from my phone towards expenses for food and accommodation," the complaint says.

Complainant Says Belongings Were Withheld

The complainant also alleged that they forced him out of the house without returning his belongings including his bag and mobile phone. After being thrown out, the cook posted an emotional video of himself in which he was seen crying while detailing his alleged suffering. In the video, Tomar was also seen showing the injuries he sustained on his face and body. According to him, he came to Bhopal from another city through an acquaintance.
