A new interview with ANI prompted Shreya to recently say that web-based metrics are often "very skewed" because "everything can be bought." She said true musical success is determined on the stage—not screens.

As for Shreya's own experience in live concert-stadium performances, success for performers is when audiences join in singing along with a song. 

If she performs a song for the first time and the crowd remembers it and asks to hear it again, that’s the real win, she described. The emotional bond between artist and listener at a concert results in what she terms a “multiplicity effect.”

She does not chase numbers, but Shreya acknowledges that social media has changed the music industry. She explained how older songs — Dil Kaa Jo Haal Hai from Besharam and Jugraafiya from Super 30 — became so popular years later after release, which she characterized as the “magic of social media.”

She believes in the age of music we’ve reached now that it’s much more democratic too. Today listeners decide what becomes popular. Streaming services and social media have given audiences more control over what they enjoy rather than purely allowing the industry to promote products.

It's now a community-driven age, according to Shreya. That means that music just grows naturally from people who are genuinely interested in it.
