New Delhi (India) February 8:Two arrested in connection with swing ride collapse from Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Haryana, India, in which a police inspector was killed when he had used the rope to take injured visitors away. An FIR has also been registered for the swing accident at Surajkund Police Station.
DGP Forms 3-Member SIT for Probe
Based on the severity of the event, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to report the matter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime). The SIT is constituted of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-2), the head of Crime Branch NIT, and Sub-Inspector Sanjay of Surajkund Police Station, a police officer spokesperson reported.
Ajay Singhal, the Director General of Police (DGP), has assembled the team to conduct a thorough investigation based on scientific and technical techniques.
Owner Mohammad Shakir, Nitesh Nabbed
The case has been filed against Mohammad Shakir, owner of Himachal Fun Care Company, the vendor who had put the swings up at the fairgrounds, under sections that mention culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Mohammad Shakir, a resident of Toka Nangla village in district Sirmaur, and another accused, Nitesh, a resident of Dharmapuri, Sadar Meerut Cantt, have been arrested during the investigation. There are pending investigations into the involvement of other respective parties.
CM Saini Announces Job, Aid
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has announced compensation, financial assistance, and a government job for the family of Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who died as a result of a joyride being collapsed.
He added, “I assure the family members that the government stands with them in every possible way. We will provide all possible assistance. Along with this, the police officer who was martyred will be provided with financial security, as he was on duty there. We will also provide a government job to one of his children.”
12 Injured Including ASI
A total of 12 individuals were hurt in the incident, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Neelam, Constable Sharmila, Rajesh (SPO), Harsh Prakash, Prashant, Amisha, Parvinder, Sunil, Shivani, Balbir, Anuj, and Pooja.
Five of the wounded have been discharged from the hospital after being treated. The lives of the injured are well and now being treated with the best medical care.
What Is Surajkund Mela?
The Surajkund International Crafts Mela takes place approximately in the month of February in Faridabad. It is being scheduled by the Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism under the aegis of Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture and External Affairs.
First conducted in 1987, the Mela has been described by international observers as one of the largest such crafts fairs in the world. The Mela commenced on January 31 of this year; it will run until February 15.
