Oppo has officially launched Oppo Reno 16 Pro and Reno 16 in China during its May 2026 launch event, bringing major camera and battery upgrades to its premium mid-range smartphone lineup. The new Oppo Reno 16 series comes with a powerful 200-megapixel camera system, MediaTek Dimensity chipsets and large batteries, making it one of the brand’s biggest Reno upgrades in recent years.
The Reno series remains one of Oppo’s most popular smartphone lineups in markets like India, especially among users looking for flagship-like camera features at a lower price point. Reports suggest the Oppo Reno 16 series could arrive in India around July 2026.
Oppo Reno 16 Pro Specifications And Features
The biggest highlight of Oppo Reno 16 Pro is its advanced triple rear camera setup. The smartphone features a 200MP HP5 main camera with gimbal stabilisation support and up to 4-degree shake correction for smoother videos and stable handheld shots. The setup also includes a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS support.
For selfies and video calls, both the Reno 16 Pro and Reno 16 feature a 50MP front camera. Oppo is also focusing heavily on photography and creator-focused features this year.
The Reno 16 Pro is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset paired with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The device is expected to deliver flagship-level gaming and multitasking performance. Reno 16 comes with MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super SoC.
Bigger Battery And Premium Display
Oppo has also upgraded the battery capacity significantly. The Reno 16 Pro packs a massive 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
The smartphone sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K OLED LTPO flat display with slim bezels and adaptive refresh rate support. Meanwhile, the standard Reno 16 is expected to feature a smaller 6.32-inch OLED panel.
Both devices are available in multiple colour options, including Dream Blue, Heartbeat Star and Midnight Black.
What Users Should Know
The Reno 16 series appears to focus heavily on camera performance, battery life and AI-powered imaging tools. Compared to the previous Reno generation, Oppo is offering a larger battery, upgraded stabilisation technology and more premium camera hardware.
The addition of a periscope telephoto lens and 200MP sensor could make the Reno 16 Pro a strong rival to premium smartphones from brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and Vivo in the upper mid-range segment.
