Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and said he is “incapable” of holding the post. He said Pradhan “should be shown the door”.
Gandhi made the remarks while addressing the media wearing a black band on his right arm. This was part of the Opposition’s all-black protest in Parliament demanding a discussion on the NEET-UG paper leak.
‘Education System Is Rigged’
Rahul Gandhi targeted the government over repeated paper leaks and said the education system is “rigged”.
He claimed that 152 paper leaks have happened in the last 10 years. “If you do the math. So one a month approx,” he said.
He also said that despite so many cases, there have been “zero convictions”.
“7.5 crore students and their families are affected by this. These are middle class and poor families. They put their hard earned money into this and then they literally spat on,” Gandhi added.
3 Big Demands For Students
Rahul Gandhi backed the protesting students and listed 3 main demands:
- Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan
- Action against those who assaulted students
- PM Modi must apologise to students
He defended the students’ anger over paper leaks and said the government must take responsibility.
No Mention Of CJP In Speech
While student group ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ or CJP is leading big protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar seeking Pradhan’s resignation, Rahul Gandhi did not mention the group in his speech.
The Opposition’s black band protest in Parliament was held to push for a debate on the NEET-UG paper leak issue.
The row has sparked nationwide anger among students and parents ahead of key entrance exams.
