The Ministry of Railways has dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that a student died inside a train at Patliputra Railway Station in Bihar. The ministry said its investigation found that no such death took place.

The clarification came after Rahul Gandhi shared a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that a student had died due to poor travel conditions while appearing for exams.

Railways Say No Death Took Place

In an official statement posted on X, the Ministry of Railways said it immediately investigated the incident after Rahul Gandhi shared the video.

According to the ministry, the person seen in the viral clip appeared to be suffering from a medical condition or extreme fatigue, and not because of any incident that caused death.

The Railways further stated that all official records were checked and confirmed that no student died at Patliputra Railway Station.

Rahul Gandhi’s Viral Post

Before deleting the video, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Central Government over the condition of students travelling for examinations.

He alleged that while the government spends huge amounts on projects, it has failed to provide students with safe and comfortable travel facilities.

The Congress leader also shared another post comparing "two Indias"—one represented by Vande Bharat trains and another where students allegedly suffer due to overcrowding and poor facilities.

Chhatron Ki Goonj Rally in Kota

Rahul Gandhi's comments came ahead of his "Chhatron Ki Goonj" rally in Kota on June 17.

The protest focuses on several student-related issues, including:

  • Paper leak cases
  • Exam mismanagement
  • Cancelled recruitment exams
  • Rising education fees
  • Privatization
  • Corruption in the education system

Rahul Gandhi Mentions NEET Students

After reaching Kota, Rahul Gandhi remembered two students, Umesh from Sikar and Riya from Dehradun, who allegedly died by suicide under the pressure related to the re-NEET examination.

He blamed the Central Government and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for failing to address issues like paper leaks and exam irregularities.

According to Gandhi, students across the country deserve justice, transparent examinations, and a secure future. He urged young people to raise their voices against problems affecting the education system.

Railways Stand Firm

Despite Rahul Gandhi's allegations, the Ministry of Railways has maintained that its inquiry found no evidence of any student's death on the train or at Patliputra Railway Station. The ministry said the viral video has been misrepresented and that the person shown was experiencing a medical issue or exhaustion, not a fatal incident.
