New Delhi (India) July 23: Actor Salman Khan has made an appeal to the protestors and activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. The movie star also offered to send home-cooked meals for Wangchuk and asked the other students protesting against the NEET paper leak to go back home, assuring them that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has guaranteed that action will be taken.
Salman Calls Students The Nation's Highest Priority
Salman Khan posted on social media on Thursday, sharing a picture of himself and telling the protesting students that the education of the students is of utmost importance, and in such trying times, the students must not have anything to worry as the Prime Minister himself had promised action on this matter.
Khan posted, “The students are at top priority, educationally n security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them. The Honorable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak. So students, plz go back to your parents n homes.”
He added, “Sonam, it's done, bro. Don't extend this. Keep the spirit for another day if there be a need, which I doubt, n eat something. If u want, will send u food from home.”
Khan Earlier Backed Students' Fight For Justice
This appeal comes on the heels of Salman Khan publicly lauding the students' protest yesterday for raising their voice and calling the NEET-Paper leak an issue of great concern, calling for stronger governance and accountability from the authorities.
He posted, “It was such a peaceful movement, feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt. Paper leak is a very serious issue, and I am glad to know n see that the kids of our country have come together for a better educational system, and their parents supported them.”
"This issue is between the students and the educational system, it should not be hijacked politically, the credit should only go to the students of our country, and I am sure the government will also give them all the support n make it a stronger educational system. It's a win-win situation. Hoping and praying for a positive decision. God bless all of you who wanna be educated (sic)," he added.
CJP Protest Over NEET Paper Leak
Sonam Wangchuk, who is a noted social activist, joined the movement earlier this month and is on a hunger strike in support of the protesting students and the 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP)-led demonstrations which have continued for over a month.
The CJP organized a 'Chalo Sansad' march which turned into clashes this week. Both sides have a differing view on the cause of the clashes, with reports stating the protesters acted violent and defiant in the face of repeated police warnings, and, in turn, the police are blamed for using tear gas, Lathi charges, etc.
