Bihar Election Verdict: NDA Secures Massive Mandate as BJP, JD(U) Lead Sweep; Modi, Nitish Thank Voters for Historic Win
In the legislative assembly elections in Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is going for a landslide victory.
New Delhi (India) November 14: Votes are presently being counted for the Bihar Assembly Elections. The opposition Mahagathbandhan is losing in the crucial electoral struggle, while the BJP-led NDA is on its way to a landslide win after crossing the 200 mark. Since the opposition has failed to make an impression, Nitish Kumar, the state's longest-serving chief minister, is expected to continue to run the state.
PM Modi Credits Victory to Public Trust
PM Modi appreciated all NDA employees for their efforts in reaching out to the people, presenting the alliance's development program, and refuting any lies propagated by the opposition.
Modi posted, “Good governance has won. Development has won. The spirit of public welfare has won. Social justice has won. I express my deepest gratitude to my family members in Bihar, who have blessed the NDA with a historic and unprecedented victory in the 2025 assembly elections. This overwhelming mandate will empower us to serve the people and work with renewed resolve for Bihar," on social media platform X.
Nitish Kumar Thanks Voters and Alliance Leaders
According to Nitish Kumar, the state's citizens demonstrated their faith in the government by handing it a resounding majority in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election. He claimed to have bowed to all of the state's esteemed voters and expressed his sincere appreciation. He added that he genuinely thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his assistance and bowed to him.
He went on to say that the NDA alliance had demonstrated total unity in the election and won a landslide majority, and he thanked Upendra Kushwaha, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chirag Paswan for their support. He claimed that with everyone's help, Bihar would keep developing and eventually rank among the nation's most advanced states.
Kumar posted, “The people of the state have expressed their confidence in our government by giving us a massive majority. For this, I bow to all the esteemed voters of the state, and express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks” on X.
NDA’s Seat and Vote Share Breakdown
With a 20.5 percent overall vote share, the BJP had either won or was leading 93 seats within the NDA. With 19% of the vote overall, the regional Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), a significant NDA constituent, had either won or was leading in 83 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), or LJPRV, another local NDA supporter, had either won or was leading in 19 seats. In four seats, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RSHTLKM) was in the lead. Five seats had been won or were in the lead by the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), or HAMS.
243 Returning Officers (ROs), 243 Counting Observers, and the candidates or their agents are present when the counting is being done. The ECI claims that this is the first time in recent memory that no irregularities or malpractices were discovered at any polling place during examination, and no repolls have been suggested.
With 74 million registered voters spread across 243 assembly constituencies, Bihar is the third most populous state in India. The election has been seen as a crucial test of Modi's popularity, particularly among Generation Z.
