18 December 2023, Mumbai: In the high-stakes clash of advance bookings, Prabhas-starrer Salaar finds itself in a fierce competition with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. Scheduled for release on December 22, Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, has raked in an impressive Rs 3.58 crore through advance bookings, selling over 150,000 tickets, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. However, despite Salaar’s commendable numbers, SRK’s Dunki emerges as the front-runner, boasting a substantial Rs 4.46 crore in advance bookings.

Salaar’s Stronghold and Dunki’s Nationwide Appeal

The battleground of advance bookings unveils interesting geographical dynamics. Salaar has garnered significant traction in the Telugu-speaking region, leading the pack with a whopping 84,000 tickets sold. Following closely, the Malayalam-speaking areas contributed over 42,000 bookings, while the Hindi-speaking region witnessed Salaar securing more than 18,000 advance bookings. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki maintains its edge with a nationwide appeal, reflecting its diverse and extensive fan base.

Dunki’s Lead: SRK’s Dominance

The disparity in advance booking numbers underscores Shah Rukh Khan’s enduring popularity and the anticipation surrounding Dunki. With a substantial lead at Rs 4.46 crore, SRK’s film builds on the momentum of recent box office successes, including Jawan and Pathaan. The combination of SRK’s star power and the film’s intriguing premise positions Dunki as a formidable contender against Salaar, setting the stage for a cinematic showdown.

Salaar’s Clash Efforts

Directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, Salaar boasts a stellar cast featuring Prabhas Raju Uppalapati, Shruthi Haasan, and Madhu Guruswamy in pivotal roles. Despite the clash with Dunki, producer Vijay Kirgandur emphasizes a diplomatic approach, actively engaging with exhibitors and distributors. Kirgandur envisions a scenario where both films can secure a 50-50 screen distribution, maximizing occupancy and ensuring a positive outcome for both Salaar and Dunki.

Salaar VS Dunki

Vijay Kirgandur sheds light on the strategic approach to the clash, expressing optimism about achieving a balance between Salaar and Dunki. With a solo release, a typical occupancy rate of 60-70% is anticipated. However, in the face of competition, Kirgandur envisions a scenario where Salaar and Dunki secure an equitable screen distribution.
