Bumrah’s Fiery Five-For Wrecks South Africa as India Dominate Opening Day of Eden Gardens Test
India got off to the ideal start in their home test against the WTC holders as Temba Bavuma's men crumbled with the bat after winning the toss at iconic Eden Gardens.
New Delhi (India) November 14: It is a premature close to the day’s play. Poor light stops play early. Only 75 overs were bowled, and there were only 196 runs scored. Run-scoring was never easy on a pitch that was dry from the first day.
Bumrah’s Fiery Five-For Wrecks South Africa as India Dominate Opening Day of Eden Gardens Test
The encounter started on a toss where the South Africans opted to bat. South Africa had started brilliantly with opening pair Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton putting on 57 for the first wicket.
South Africa were then at 114 for three, but Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav ripped through the South African order. The Proteas collapsed dramatically to lose their final 7 wickets for only 45 runs.
And Jasprit Bumrah finished a scintillating five-wicket haul with two further strikes in the final session to dismiss South Africa for 159. Siraj went one up on Bumrah and Kuldeep’s early damage with two vital blows of his own, leaving South Africa teetering at seven down. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav pounced again after lunch, each taking a wicket as South Africa teetered at five down.
