Controversy Erupts in Tripura: Saraswati Idol Without Saree Sparks Outrage

The peaceful Saraswati Pooja celebrations at a government college in Tripura took an unexpected turn when a Saraswati idol, sans traditional saree, stirred controversy. Crafted by college students, the idol's unconventional appearance sparked outrage among certain groups, igniting a heated debate over cultural representation and religious sentiments.

ABVP and Bajrang Dal Take a Stand

Leading the charge against the perceived impropriety, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) voiced concerns over what they deemed the "vulgarity" of the idol. Their protest gained momentum as supporters from the Bajrang Dal also joined in, amplifying the dissent.

Dibakar Acharjee, the general secretary of the ABVP unit in Tripura, emerged as a prominent voice in the protest, vehemently opposing what he viewed as a misguided portrayal of Goddess Saraswati.
