Investigations into a lady who was discovered injured and tied on a road earlier this week led to her arrest on Saturday for allegedly faking her own kidnapping and submitting a false gang rape charge against five men with whom she had a property dispute in Delhi. The 38-year-old was detained, according to Ghaziabad police, after being released from Delhi’s GTB hospital.

A case was filed against her, according to circle officer Alok Dubey, under sections 420 (criminal breach of trust, cheating), 467, 468, and 471 (forgery), 195 (giving or fabricating false evidence with intent to procure conviction), 34 (common intention), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC as well as Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.
She appeared in court, according to the police, to give a magistrate her statement regarding the initial complaint that she had made. She had arrived to the Ghaziabad court after receiving her hospital discharge, and Dubey continued, “She was afterwards arrested.”

She received a few superficial injuries, but no internal ones, according to early reports from hospital sources.
The woman, who was discovered in the early hours of October 18 on Ashram Road in Raj Nagar Extension, claimed she had been sexually assaulted over two days while held captive in a house in Ghaziabad by five men. She claimed they had taken her at gunpoint in a Scorpio on the night of October 16 from the same road.

The Scorpio she had mentioned, according to the police, was spotted in CCTV footage on Delhi highways and not in Ghaziabad during that time.
Three of the woman’s friends, including her companion Azad, were eventually accused with fabricating evidence and imprisoned for allegedly aiding her in staging the kidnapping.
