Atishi Continues Her Hunger Strike Over Delhi’s Water Crisis

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader and Delhi’s Water Minister Aitishi is leading an indefinite hunger strike over current Delhi’s water crisis. The strike has now continued to its second day on Saturday, June 22. Atishi claims that she had already tried taking any measures she could take to protest against the water crisis.

Haryana Is Not Providing Delhi With The Rightful Supple Of Water, Shortage Of 110 Million Gallons Per Day

During her fast, Atishi alleges that Haryana is not supplying Delhi with its share of water from the river Yamuna, and suggests that 110 million gallons of water per day was not released by Haryana on Friday when she sat down on her fast. She says, “1 million gallons of water per day supply 28,000 people; shortage of 110 million gallons of water means 28 lakh people are not getting water in Delhi”.

Bjp Protesters Create Chaos At The Site, Atishi Uphold Gandhi’s Satyagraha Vision

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj calls Atishi’s hunger strike a ‘sham’ and a ‘political drama’, claiming her to be a failed water minister. Atishi later on Saturday shared that there was chaos at the site of her hunger strike. Protestors raised slogans against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal before they were expelled from the strike by the AAP workers. Atishi claims that she is following Mahatma Gandhi’s path of Satyagraha, and will not halt the strike unless the rightful supply of water is received by the Delhi people.
