3 July 2023, Mumbai: In a delightful surprise for fans, Kajol and Anil Kapoor, who last shared the screen together in the film “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain” over two decades ago, recently reunited for a promotional video to cross-promote their respective web series on Disney+ Hotstar. The video showcases the chemistry and camaraderie between the two accomplished actors as they engage in friendly banter.

Anil Kapoor, known for his versatility and dynamic on-screen presence, takes on the role of the formidable villain Shelly Rungta in Sandeep Modi’s Hindi adaptation of the popular action thriller “The Night Manager.” On the other hand, Kajol will be seen as a lawyer in Suparn Verma’s legal drama “The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha,” the Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed American show “The Good Wife.” Both series are set to release on July 14.

The promotional video begins with Kajol calling Anil Kapoor, and after exchanging pleasantries, the conversation takes a playful turn. Anil starts singing the title track of their previous film, “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain,” much to Kajol’s annoyance, adding a touch of nostalgia to the interaction.

When Kajol mentions that she plays a lawyer in “The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha,” Anil Kapoor playfully suggests that she should seek tips from him since he portrayed a lawyer early in his career in Subhash Ghai’s 1985 courtroom drama “Meri Jung.” This friendly banter showcases their mutual admiration for each other’s work and highlights their shared experiences as actors.

As the conversation progresses, the two stars playfully argue about whose show is better. Kajol emphasises the drama and even teases the inclusion of a sex scandal in her series, while Anil Kapoor counters by emphasising the ample scope for drama and sex appeal in his villainous role. He cheekily refers to Kajol’s memorable portrayal as a villain in the 1997 thriller “Gupt: The Hidden Truth,” playfully mentioning her character’s actions in the film.

In a final witty retort, Kajol claims the “villainous act” was the delayed release of the remaining episodes of “The Night Manager.” She playfully taunts Anil Kapoor for making viewers wait for four long months after releasing the first four episodes in March, with the remaining three finally dropping on June 29. This lighthearted exchange adds a touch of humour to their conversation, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the release of both series.

While the promotional banter brought joy and excitement to fans, Kajol and Anil Kapoor concluded the call by informing their teams that they won’t be able to continue cross-promoting their shows further, leaving viewers to enjoy their individual web series on Disney+ Hotstar.
