10th march, Mumbai: Actress Kate Sharma has never been someone who has never prioritised looks over personality. She has always regarded everyone as special, despite how she looks.
“I think for me, I never felt that looks are important. For me, looks don’t matter but heart does. And I always had a thought in my mind that I am God’s special child and whatever he does do for the best. I always feel he has my back. I feel people should understand that everyone is special in their own way. God has created everyone special. We should praise ourselves daily,” she says.
With so many shows and movies on body shaming, it has reduced. However, we have a long way to go, she says, “Definitely it is creating awareness but acceptance in the society has a long way to go. Especially in rural areas. Everyone judges others as soon as they meet them. That’s natural and for that to change, you need to be brought up differently.”
However, there is pressure on celebrities to look a certain way, she says, adding, “Reaching that point seems tough as of now. But, slowly steadily, it’s changing. Physical and mental appearance both are important I feel. One should focus on everything. And cinema plays a crucial role in changing mindsets, I believe. Let us all strive for a better future.”
She adds, “To be part of the glamour industry, you need to look perfect and glam. I don’t feel any pressure but it’s your choice how you want to look. For going events or parties, make up is fine. But I think it’s nota priority for the gym. And for me, I love getting ready, putting on make up and going out, so it’s not hard for me.”
