Kishore Kumar had a sixth sense about his death, according to son Amit: ‘He said he’d have a heart attack if..’

In 1987, Kishore Kumar died. On October 13th, the iconic singer and actor died. He is remembered for several hit songs and his roles in many memorable films. In a 2002 interview, Kishore Kumar’s son, singer Amit Kumar, recalled his father’s final day. According to Amit, Kishore had a sixth sense about his death. At the age of 58, the actor-singer died of a heart attack.

On August 4, 1929, Kishore Kumar was born. Kishore eventually ‘found happiness’ with performer Leena Chandavarkar, according to his son Amit in an old interview. Between 1980 and 1987, the pair married. Kishore Kumar previously married actress Madhubala. Amit recalls Kishore making a joke about having a heart attack on the day he died in the same interview.

“Even in death, he seemed to have a sixth instinct..” He wouldn’t let [Amit’s stepbrother] Sumeet go swimming that day because he was worried about my flight from Canada arriving on schedule. He was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack but joked that if we called a doctor, he would have one. He was laughing and talking with Leena when he fell. “At first, Leena felt he was making a joke,” Amit Kumar told Rediff in 2002.

Kishore Kumar was a well-known playback singer who sang background vocals for artists such as Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna. Aanewala Pal (Gol Maal), Koi Hota Jisko Apna (Mere Apne), O Saathi Re (Muqaddar Ka Sikandar), Mere Sapno Ki Rani (Aradhana), Chingari Koi Bhadke (Amar Prem), Ek Ladki Bheegi-Bhaagisi (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi) and Kuch Toh Log Ka are some of his most popular songs Kishore’s comic timing as an actor has fans laughing. From his parts in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Door Ka Raahi, and Padosan to Shrimanji, Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, and Half-Ticket, he carved out a niche for himself as an actor.
