15th March, Mumbai: The 95th Academy Awards has been special for India. And why not? The country went on a celebratory mode as Naatu Naatu from RRR won the Best Original Song and The Elephant Whisperers took the trophy in Documentary Short Subject category. Sharing her excitement Aashiqana 2 actor Mitaali Nag says she is elated.

“The news made my day…. I am so proud! I didn’t waste a minute and immediately posted a reel of the song on the very day. I know this is just the beginning for us. The Oscar is considered the most prestigious award in the cinema industry. We really look up to it. So this win feels wonderful,” she says.

Deepika Padukone, who made her Oscar debut and was one of the presenters this time looked stunning and gave a beautiful speech on Naatu Naatu.

Cheering for her, Mitaali adds, “Deepika looked like a queen, so international. I loved the LV gown that she wore and the way she styled it with minimal makeup and just a neck piece by Cartier. She carried it with total poise and glam. I wonder why she isn’t making it big in Hollywood yet. With regards to the speech, no one else would have had the emotional connection to the song than Deepika. The speech was perfect with a pinch of humour and I loved how the audience was cheering up while she was speaking about Naatu Naatu.”

Director Kartiki Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga taking the stage for The Elephant Whisperers was also beautiful. This is the first time an Indian film has won in this category. Interestingly, the film is high on the female force as the co-producers, director, writer, co-editor etc are women

“They have set a benchmark for us. And this win goes on to prove that women are nothing else and they sure are capable enough to take the country ahead in the world map,” she signs off.
