17th March, Mumbai: In today’s hectic and stressful world most of the people don’t get good sleep. People often suffer from Insomnia and then the whole day is ruined with irritation and mood swings. So we asked actress Arushi Nishank whom we have seen in Wafa Na Raas Aayee’ and ‘Teri Galiyon Se’ (music video) on how she manages her sleeping habits. She says,” I personally never compromised sleep for work but due to back-to-back meetings, narrations, deadlines etc, it is not possible for me to take any breaks for a nap. But I feel life and work balance is a must. Health and fitness has always been my priority, if I don’t get any nap break then I somehow manage to get a break for yoga and meditation and that’s how I am always ready to go.” Speaking about her sleeping hours she says,”For the last couple of months I hardly get 3-4 hours of sleep, due to a rigorous travel schedule, events, promotions etc. But I look forward to maintaining a good sleeping cycle with at least 6-7 hours of sleep. For a healthy lifestyle not only good food but relaxing your mind and body with good sleep is equally important. For a healthy lifestyle around 8 hours sleep should be good enough. Roughly, 1 in 3 adults worldwide show sleep distorder symptoms. Our elders never faced any issues as such, it’s the lifestyle that we follow now that has resulted in the disrupted sleeping cycle.”

Arushi also shares few of her good sleep tips. She adds, ”Pay attention to what you eat and drink, don’t go to bed hungry or stuffed. In particular, avoid heavy or large meals right before bedtime. Discomfort might keep you up. Keep your room cool, dark and quiet. Exposure to light in the evenings might make it more challenging to fall asleep. Limit naps to not more than one hour and avoid napping late in the day. Regular physical activity can promote better sleep. I also do meditation for 10 mins daily before sleeping. I also believe one should extract at least some time of the day for themselves. Meditation helps me calm myself and prepares myself for the next day and keeps my conscious clean.”
