18th March, Mumbai: In the age of social media, getting noticed for what you excel at is not difficult, and actress Anu Aggarwal says that the platform often gives you the chance to get the right kind of work.

“People know I am here. I don’t need to beg for work. I am active on social media and in this digital age if they think a role is suitable they will approach me, which has already started,” she says.

Actress Neena Gupta took to social media a few years back and asked for work on the platform. Talking about the same, Anu says, “Neena is way senior to me and her experiences and mine are totally different, so I can’t really comment on why she announced it and what it did to her. My experiences have always been unique, miraculous to say the least and I am not complaining.”

Talking about working in the industry, she says, “It is important to understand that my leaving the film business, at the time I did, came from the disappointment I faced from what being a superstar could offer me. I, therefore, stepped out for self development which turned out to be a long yogi spiritual one.  I don’t think in terms of a comeback. As acting is my second skin since my teens. And let’s face it, I did not fit the young Indian heroine mould in the early 90s, I don’t today either when heroines my age, in late 40s or early 50s are all mothers, married or not. So, I happen to stand out differently today as well. But I offer something special, where I have brought the pieces of health together. I stand as an unbelievable symbol of the miracle life of recovery, wellness. I understand that each personal development in you can be used as a springboard to being a better actor too. No matter how many acting-awards I got, I never stopped growing, in fact I transformed. So, experience shows that there will be directors writing stories/roles for me that suited my unique personality. As an actor I have never been replaceable with, so that the reality for anyone to see I don’t need to brag about it.”
