According to actress Rewati Limaye, the female population of our country is never safe, from being a girl child to venturing out at night. She believes that something needs to be done about the problem.

“First and foremost, I believe that women’s safety is a major concern that must be addressed. As a woman, I find it really unfortunate that every time I leave the house, I am constantly concerned about whether I will be able to return home safely, whether I will get a cab or not, whether I will be taunted, and what will happen if something goes wrong. It’s quite unfortunate that women have to think about such things, whereas when a male goes out, even at 2:00 a.m., he doesn’t have to. Second, because I work in the entertainment industry, our timetables are quite irregular, and our shoots sometimes end at 2:00 or 4:00 a.m. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve always had company from the actor, crew, or production team. But there are a lot of girls who have to go home by themselves. “It’s an exceedingly terrible truth that we can’t change right now,” she says.

“There are laws in existence, but how far these regulations are implemented has to be seen,” she adds. Many incidences of eveteasing, rape, child abuse, or women’s abuse go unreported. These incidences occur all around the country. People should be afraid of these regulations and acts. Educating your children with values is really important in their lives. We must teach youngsters to respect and equality between men and women. We have come a long way as a culture, and as a woman in India, I feel much more safe. Women in Afghanistan and Iran are barred from attending universities. We have a long way to go, such as mistreatment at work, salary difference, and mistreatment at home, and women must always bear double responsibility. Such issues must be addressed at a fundamental level.”
