Incident Overview

A tragic fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at a food processing unit in the Narela Industrial Area of Delhi. The fire caused a blast and led to the death of three workers and six others injured.

Details of the Incident

The Delhi Police received a distress call at 3:35 am about a fire at Shayam Kripa Foods Private Ltd, a factory that processes dry moong dal. The fire quickly caught the factory with several workers inside.

Rescue Operations

Fourteen fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze. By around 8:30 am, the firefighting operations were still ongoing. Nine people were rescued from the building and taken to SHRC Hospital in Narela.

Casualties and Injuries

Sadly, three workers - Shyam, Ram Singh, and Beerpal (42) - were declared dead at the hospital. Six others are receiving treatment for their injuries.

Cause of the Fire

Investigations suggest that the fire started due to a gas leak from one of the pipelines supplying gas to burners used for roasting moong dal. As the fire spread, it caused the compressor to overheat, resulting in a blast.

Official Statements and Actions

A case is being registered under appropriate sections, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of safety measures in industrial units. The authorities are taking necessary steps to investigate and ensure such incidents do not happen again.
