States Important To The BJP In The Lok Sabha Elections

Delhi, New: In the approaching Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the lofty target of winning 370 seats for the BJP alone. As the BJP seeks to match its objectives with the repeal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, which abolished the region's special status, PM Modi's "Mission 370" has symbolic meaning. Even though studies conducted prior to the election suggest that the Modi government will win, the BJP will have a difficult time winning 370 seats.

Although pre-election polls suggest that the Modi government will win, the BJP will face significant obstacles in its quest to win 370 seats.

How the BJP's Numbers Are Arranged Before Elections

Only the BJP currently has 303 seats in its arsenal. In order to surpass its aim of 370 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would have to surpass its outstanding performance in 2019. The BJP has set a high goal of 400+ seats for the NDA in addition to its own goal of 370 seats. Setting lofty objectives ahead of the Lok Sabha elections can also be seen as a deft move to rekindle cadre enthusiasm and prevent laziness in an environment where Modi's term appears all but inevitable.

A deft move to rekindle cadre enthusiasm and prevent laziness in an environment where Modi's term is all but guaranteed can also be linked to the lofty goals set before the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP's Mission '370' and Its Math

In order to come close to achieving its goal, the BJP must not only build on its 2019 successes in states where it secured a clean or nearly clean majority of the seats but also maximize its gains in states where it secured over half the seats and charge ahead in states where it performed below expectations.
For instance, in the 2019 elections, the party nearly won every state, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Karnataka. But in 2019, the party can run into problems in places like Rajasthan and Haryana.

The impending Lok Sabha elections present a formidable obstacle for Bhajan Lal Sharma, the recently appointed main minister in 2023. Even though voter behaviour in assembly and Lok Sabha elections sometimes varies, the fact that the Congress, the BJP's main adversary in the state, received a higher percentage of the vote in over ten Lok Sabha seats during the previous year's assembly elections presents a worrying pattern for the party.

The BJP is especially concerned about the possible deterioration of its base of support in Haryana, where it had previously won all 10 seats. The political outlook for the party in the state could be negatively impacted by elements like the prolonged protests by farmers and the decreasing popularity of ML Khattar among different sections of the public. The party recently appointed Nayab Singh Saini as chief minister in lieu of Khattar after realizing the existing public attitude. Given that the BJP won an astounding 41 of 48 seats in the state's previous elections, Maharashtra could pose a serious challenge in the next elections. Voters continue to give the opposition alliance strong support despite the BJP's attempts to sabotage it by splitting up groups like the NCP and Shiv Sena.

Where the BJP Needs to Raise Its Headcount

The BJP is expected to have a big chance in West Bengal to increase its current total of 18 seats out of the 42 seats it won in 2019.
The party also sees bright futures in other southern states. Partnerships with organizations like the TDP and Jana Sena show promise in Andhra Pradesh, where the BJP was unable to win any of the state's 25 seats in 2019.

Another area where the BJP can make significant gains is Telangana, where they previously won five of seventeen seats.
Moreover, unexpected results could be obtained in states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where the BJP might win one or two seats apiece. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a history of pioneering innovative policies and is a formidable force in politics.

Nevertheless, until the election results are made public, it is unclear if this calculated strategy would help the BJP win an extra 67 seats.
