Suspected Heatwave Cases
This summer of 2024 has seen more than 40000 suspected heatwave cases all over India and out of that cases 110 are confirmed dead between March 1, 2024 to June 18, 2024. Due to this increase in the number of patients, the union minister directed to prioritise the heatwave patient’s treatment on Wednesday.
Special Heatwave Units
JP Nadda has also ordered the central government hospitals to activate special heatwave units across India. This decision came after sweeping heatwave across India that has highly affected entire Indian population.
India Meteorological Department
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the heatwave shall continue in several parts of North India on Wednesday and thereafter shall move due to a approaching western disturbance in Northwest India. IMD has predicted that monsoon will hit Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) on June 30. “In Delhi-NCR, the temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees Celcius. Monsoon is expected to hit Delhi-NCR around June 30. Even today, we can expect dust storms and light-intensity rainfall activity in Delhi,” IMD scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar told ANI.
The Medical Superintendent’s Interview
Dr. Ajay Shukla, the medical superintendent of the hospital, told ANI,”A total of 22 patients have been admitted to the hospital and five have lost their lives due to suspected heatstroke. 12 patients are on ventilators and in critical situation. The majority of patients are labourers who work in extreme conditions.”
Temperature Records in India
The highest temperature ever recorded in India is in Delhi’s area called Mungashepur. IMD recored 52.9 degree celsius in Mungashepur. Followed by Phalodi, Rajasthan which recorded the temperature of 51.0 degree celsius. The third place is also in Rajasthan called Churu which recorded 50.8 degree celsius. Ganganagar in Rajasthan is at the fourth highest tempreture at 50.6 degree celsius. The fifth highest temperature recorded is a place in Haryana called Sirsa and it recorded 50.3 degree celsius.
