Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday, July 26. Alongside this, PM Modi virtually supervised the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel which aims to provide an all-weather connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. 

PM Modi Begins Speech By Paying Tribute To Fallen Heroes

While addressing the public meeting in Drass on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Narendra Modi made several attacks on the opposition parties, especially over condemning the Agnipath Scheme. He accused the opposition parties of attempting to weaken the Army. Furthermore, PM Modi began his speech by paying tribute to the heroes who lost their lives during the Kargil war, claiming their sacrifices as immortal for the nation. 

PM Modi Says Pakistan Has Learned Nothing From Its History

PM Modi in the first half of his addressing speech took a dig at Pakistan, claiming that it has learned nothing from its history as it continues to stay relevant through terrorism and proxy wars. He then called out the opposition parties’ criticism of the Agnipath Scheme, saying that they are misleading the youth of the nation. He said that their criticism suggests that the opposition parties do not care about the soldiers of the country. 

Modi Attacks Opposition, Says They’re Weakening The Army

Narendra Modi further called out the parties suggesting that “These are the same people who lied about One Rank One Pension”. He claimed that it is the BJP that implemented One Rank One Pension, giving more than Rs.1.25 Lakh Crore to ex-servicemen. He further added that these are also the same people who did not build a war memorial and failed to provide enough bulletproof jackets to the soldiers fighting at the border. 

Abolition Of Article 370 And Developments In J&K, Ladakh

During his speech, PM Modi also spoke a little about the abolition of Article 370, hailing the development in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh since the abolition. He mentioned that infrastructure has been boomed as well as the tourism sector has also expanded in the region. A cinema hall was also opened in Kashmir after decades. After three and a half decades, the Tazia procession was also taken out in Kashmir for the first time.
