Let's examine every location that will play host to the 2024 Indian Premier League:
Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium:
The Chepauk Stadium, formerly the Madras Cricket Club Ground, has been the scene of some memorable IPL moments. With a 38.000 capacity, the stadium boasts a surface that is conducive to spinning. In the 76 IPL games that have taken place there, the side that bats first has won 46 of them. In Chennai, the first-inning average is 163.
Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium:
The famous location, which held the 2011 ODI World Cup final, just celebrated 50 years of existence. The Wankhede Stadium is a venue in Mumbai that can hold up to 32,000 people. Mumbai has hosted 111 IPL games in total thus far. The Royal Challengers Bangalore set the record in 2015 with a score of 235 at this location.
Kolkata's Eden Gardens:
Since the competition's inception, Eden Gardens, the home field of the two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders, has played host to 86 games. This wicket has helped the chasing side, since the second-batting side has won 51 games thanks to it. The Chennai Super Kings' 235 against the local team in the previous edition stands as the highest IPL total in Kolkata. The Eden Gardens can accommodate 68,000 people.
Mohali's Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium:
Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mohali is where the Punjab Kings will host their home games in the 2024 Indian Premier League. This season marks the venue's debut, and it can accommodate 33,000 people. The stadium has a herringbone drainage system that helps to drain rainwater in twenty to thirty minutes. Sand, not conventional soil, has prepared the land in Mullanpur.
Cricket Stadium, ACA-VDCA, Visakhapatnam:
Taking place this season, the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium will host its inaugural IPL match. The Delhi Capitals have chosen to use this location for their first two home games. Ajun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, their usual home field, hosted the second half of the Women's Premier League (WPL).
Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium:
With 1,32,000 seats, it is the biggest cricket venue in the world. In Ahmedabad, the most recent IPL final saw CSK defeat the Gujarat Titans, the host team, to earn their fifth championship. The Narendra Modi Stadium has hosted 27 IPL matches since 2022, with the chasing team winning 14 of them.
Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium:
RCB's home pitch has historically produced high-scoring matches. With a capacity of 40,000, the stadium has already played host to 88 IPL games. 263, the greatest team total in the history of the competition, is also the highest in Bengaluru. In a match against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in 2013, RCB set the record.
Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium:
This stadium, which houses Sunrisers Hyderabad, has already played host to 71 IPL games. The team batting second has won the majority of these games. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the greatest IPL total is 231 and the lowest score is 80. The capacity of the facility is 55,000.
Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium:
Thirty thousand spectators can watch an IPL match at the home stadium of the Rajasthan Royals. With its shorter limits, the field has hosted numerous run-fests over the years. The team batting second won thirteen of the fifty-two games played in Jaipur.
Lucknow's Ekana Sports City:
Since the previous year, when the Lucknow Super Giants were in their second season, the location has been the site of IPL games. The 50,000-seat stadium played host to seven of the Lucknow-based team's home games. The host side's 193 runs versus the Delhi Capitals in the inaugural game are a record for the team on this field.
Dharamsala's HPCA Stadium:
Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, the HPCA stadium served as the home field for Kings XI Punjab (formerly known as Punjab Kings) when it staged its inaugural IPL match in 2010. The facility, which can hold 21,000 people, will host two IPL 2024 matches.
New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium:
The Arun Jaitley Stadium will not host any games during the first half of the 2024 Indian Premier League, despite being the official home ground of the Delhi Capitals. Delhi hosted the knockout matches and second phase of the recently finished WPL. The venue can accommodate 35,200 people for seating and has already held 76 IPL games.
