Jailed Delhi CM shares a Message: "My name is Arvind Kejriwal, and I am not…”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently detained in Tihar jail, delivered a message through Sanjay Singh, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). At a news conference, Sanjay Singh delivered the statement, which said, "My name is Arvind Kejriwal, and I am not a terrorist."

A deeper insight

Earlier this month, Sanjay Singh, who had been detained since October of last year about the Delhi excise policy case, was released on bail.

Singh voiced concerns about Arvind Kejriwal's treatment in prison, highlighting his forced encounter with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann through a glass, despite being Delhi's three-time elected chief minister. Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, encounters the three-time elected chief minister of Delhi through a glass. This makes it quite evident that the prime minister despises Arvind Kejriwal, said Sanjay Singh.

A flashback to the case

The Tihar Jail administration, according to the former minister of Delhi, is preventing Arvind Kejriwal from personally meeting with his family and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Officials stated, however, that Sunita, Arvind Kejriwal's wife, and other guests had been visiting with him twice a week. On Monday, Bhagwant Mann did, however, meet Arvind Kejriwal at the Tihar jail.
The enforcement directorate detained the chief minister of Delhi on March 21 as part of a money laundering investigation into the now-canceled Delhi excise policy case. He's still in court custody.

In the Goa Assembly election campaign, Arvind Kejriwal has been accused by the law enforcement agency of being involved in the "entire conspiracy of the Delhi liquor scam, in the drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting the quid pro, receiving kickbacks, and eventually using part of the proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence."

Supreme Court’s verdict

On Monday, April 15, the Supreme Court considered Arvind Kejriwal's appeal against his ED arrest in the money laundering case. The Supreme Court did not provide Arvind Kejriwal with any temporary respite, but it did send a notice to the enforcement directorate requesting an answer to the Delhi chief minister's appeal. His court-appointed guardianship has been continued until April 23.
