Jaipur School Tragedy: 9-Year-Old Girl Dies After Fall from Sixth Floor, Parents Allege Evidence Tampering
In a ‘suspicious circumstance’, a nine-year-old girl has died after falling off a fourth-floor at the premises of the Neerja Modi School located in Jaipur’s Mansarovar on Saturday afternoon.
New Delhi (India) November 2: A disturbing incident took place at the Neerja Modi School in Jaipur’s Mansarovar on Saturday when a sixth class student allegedly fell from the sixth floor of the building and died. This incident sent shock waves among students, parents, and school staff, with various unanswered questions leading to her death.
Witness Accounts Emerge
According to the witnesses and initial reports, the school administration washed the spot where the girl fell before the arrival of the police on the scene. They said that water had to be poured over the spot as everything was cleaned, but there were some traces of blood visible; this had thus raised the alarm as the only school administration was involved in destroying the evidence.
Parents File FIR
In the meantime, the child’s parents, who reside in the Mansarovar area of Jaipur, were deeply saddened. The parents lodged an FIR against the school administration and recorded their daughter’s death with suspicious circumstances.
The family has also questioned how the girl can fall from the fourth floor of a school built in a closed area in such a reasonable circumstance. They also demanded an investigation to determine the activities of the teaching staff of the school.
This child was her parents’ only daughter, and her mother works in the banking sector while her father works in a private company.
Public Outrage Grows
The Joint Parents’ Association of Rajasthan has also demanded a fair and severe investigation into the matter, alleging that the girl committed suicide. This union has also blasted the administration of the school, accusing it of destroying this death evidence.
Police Investigation Underway
Initial details suggest the girl may have jumped from the rooftop during school hours. A few students and parents are also claiming that she was harassed or pressured by a few teachers, but no confirmation has been made regarding such allegations.
The police have said that the possibilities of harassment or psychological trauma cannot be sidelined, as of now. Jaipur Police has confirmed that the student managed herself from the third floor to the sixth floor before she fell.
Lakhan Singh, SHO, Mansarovar Police Station said, "She is a girl from the 6th grade. After receiving information about her falling from the roof, we reached Metro Mas Hospital, where she lost her life. Her parents have reached the site. We are collecting the witnesses. No written or verbal complaint has been submitted yet.”
The police are currently investigating the case as a probable suicide case until it assigns responsibility, considering that it is due to negligence or external activities. The incident has caused widespread outrage not only due to the demise of the young girl but because reports indicated that the school administration tried to conceal evidence.
Safety Concerns in Focus
The young’s death has revived problems related to the security of children in exclusive schools and the response to emergencies on school properties.
