BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda has been elected as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, replaying party member and Union minister, Piyush Goyal. Piyush Goyal has been elected to the Lok Sabha from the North Mumbai Seat. J P Nadda has been allotted the health ministry and the family welfare under the new NDA government.
JAIRAM RAMESH CONGRATULATES NADDA
Nadda’s term as the BJP chief is set to close around June-end with him leading the first Rajya Sabha session starting from June 27, as the Leader of the House of the Rajya Sabha. In the current NDA-3 government, there are 11 other Rajya Sabha members apart from Nadda. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to X to congratulate JP Nadda on his nomination as the House Leader.
NADDA WRITES TO KHARGE, CRITICISING PARTY’S ‘STOIC SILENCE’ ON HOOCH TRAGEDY
JP Nadda later on Monday wrote to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, questioning the party’s ‘stoic selective silence’ on the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu. 50 people have died upon consuming hooch, a spurious liquor in Kallakurichi, with most victims belonging to the SC/ST community
JP NADDA’S MAJOR POINTS IN THE LETTER CONCERNING THE SUFFERINGS OF THE SC/ST COMMUNITY
In his letter, JP Nadda asked Kharge to compensate victims' families properly. He asked the state government to order a CBI probe and for the removal of the State Prohibition and Excise Minister S Muthusamy. He called attention to the contradiction between leader Rahul Gandhi’s advocacy for social injustice and the party’s indifference towards the sufferings of the SC/ST in the Kallakurichi incident.
