Kanhaiya Kumar, the INC candidate from North East Delhi spoke out about his opponent in a recent interview with Saurabh Tiwari on The Lallantop. In the interview, Kanhaiya Kumar discussed a lot of different issues from his leaving the CPI, the sedition case against him and more. Saurabh Dwivedi asked him about his opponent in the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Responding to that question, he said, “I used to listen to his songs as a kid because I did not know what they meant. When I learnt their meaning I stopped listening to them. I don’t know him personally. I used to be a fan of his singing earlier.”
On Saurabh Dwivedi’s question about both of them being from Bihar, Kanhaiya Kumar said, “If he says he’s from Bihar, he should not have attacked me. He should have respected our soil this much.”
When Saurabh Dwivedi asked him to elaborate, Kanhaiya Kumar said that the man who attacked him is seen with Manoj Tiwari on stage and in rallies so it is natural to assume he is the one who orchestrated the attacks.
The attack in question is the incident of Kanhaiya Kumar being attacked while campaigning in North East Delhi by two men one of whom threw ink on him and the other slapped him. The two accused were Daksh and Annu Chaudhary. Videos show a man in a black shirt with a long beard, shouting “Kanhaiya bhaiya zindabad” as he came near Kanhaiya Kumar. With a garland and a packet of rose petals in his hands. While initially it seemed like he was going to place the garland on Kanhaiya Kumar's neck, he threw ink on the leader, and another man slapped him. Delhi police have nabbed one of the men who allegedly carried out this attack.
Kanhaiya Kumar and Manoj Tiwari are contesting the elections from North East Delhi constituency representing INC and BJP respectively. Manoj Tiwari is the incumbent MP while Kanhaiya is the challenger. The voting in the constituency will take place during Phase 6 of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections on May 25, 2024. The results will be announced on June 4, 2024.
