The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday, July 14 in a resolution stated that the recent judgment from the Supreme Court earlier on Wednesday on divorced Muslim women was against the Islamic Shariah Law. The board also said that it is taking all possible measures to get the Supreme Court to roll back its verdict on Muslim divorcee women because it goes against their Islamic law, keeping up with the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act of 1986.

AIMPLB Says Divorce Most Disliked Act By The Allah

The AIMPLB board held a meeting on Sunday to address the Supreme Court’s ruling on the allowance of Muslim women divorced through ‘triple talaq’ to ask for maintenance from their husbands under section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The board made the statement by suggesting that the Holy Prophet has claimed that among all permissible deads in the Holy Quran, the most abhorred is divorce, in the sight of Allah. Therefore, the board urges that it is always desirable that marriages continue and by all means and not come to an end. Furthermore, it said that divorce was a solution created by mankind in case of a marriage being difficult to maintain.

Board Says Not Fair For Man To Be Responsible For Ex-Wife

After suggesting that a marriage must take all possible measures to continue its course, the board also said that it does not stand fair with human reasoning that a man must be held responsible for his former wife after their marriage has become non-existent. The board further holds that the Supreme Court’s judgment will be a cause for more difficulties being faced by women who have left painful relationships. President of the board, Hazrat Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani has been authorized by the AIMPLB board to take all the measures necessary, legal, constitutional, or democratic, to get the judgment by the Supreme Court rolled back.

Board To Contact Central Government And Opposition

Spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas from the AIMPLB has reported that the board is also planning to speak about the same with the opposition and the Central government. Alongside the judgment on divorced Muslim women, the board has also adopted a few other resolutions concerning the Lok Sabha elections, Gyanvapi Masjid, the Babri Masjid incident, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and opinion on Palestine. The spokesman has also informed that the board will be filing a petition at the Uttarakhand High Court later this month.
