Tragically, back-to-back three trains derailed this weekend from July 20, Saturday morning till July 21, Sunday evening in three different states, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. However, fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far in any of the three train accidents. 

Train Traveling From Gonda To Ghaziabad Derailed Near Amroha Station

In Uttar Pradesh, a goods train carrying cargo was traveling from Gonda to Ghaziabad that derailed on its way near the Amroha railway station on the evening of July 20, Saturday. The derailment affected both the up and down tracks on the Lucknow-Delhi junction. Following this, 28 of the passengers in the train were diverted and six other local and passenger trains were canceled. Normalcy in the train’s functioning was observed by Sunday.

Locomotive Pressure Assigned As The Reason For Derailment

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Aditya Gupta suggested that the trains derailed due to a sudden drop in the locomotive pressure. This drop resulted in the drivers applying emergency breaks, halting the train abruptly. The accident allegedly happened at the Moradabad section. The drivers of the train were identified as Iqbal and Amit.

Train Derailed At Alwar-Mathura Route

As reported by the Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO), North-Western Railway, three wagons of goods train in Rajasthan’s Alwar derailed on July 21, Sunday morning at around 2:30 AM. The derailment affected the Alwar-Mathura route along with traffic movement on the Delhi-Alwar route, however, no passenger or freight trains were impacted by the incident due to the accident taking place early in the morning. 

Empty Goods Train Derail At Ranaghata Station

Again in West Bengal’s Nadia district on the evening of July 21, Sunday, an empty goods train derailed at the Ranaghata station. However, the incident was fortunately a minor one and did not affect the rail operations or passengers. The restoration work at all affected railway tracks is still underway. Earlier on July 18, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express too derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi stations near the Gonda station. The derailment tragically resulted in three fatalities along with 30 other passengers being injured.
