18 Killed, 19 Injured As Bus Collides With Milk Tanker In UP’s Unnao

A speeding double-decker bus rammed into a milk tanker leading to 18 deaths while 19 injured are under treatment

In yet another bus accident, at least 18 people have been killed 19 are left injured after the bus collided sigh another vehicle in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao on Wednesday, July 10. In the tragic accident, there were three women and one child among all those who were killed. The accident took place around 5:15 AM this morning near the Jajikot village, in the Behta Mujhawar Police Station area. This comes after the recent overloaded mini-bus accident in Haryana’s Panchkula that led to 46 people getting injured. 

Drivers Of Both Vehicles Among The Dead

It was a double-decker bus, traveling from Bihar’s Sitamarhi to Delhi when it collided with a milk tanker in the back while attempting to take a turn. This happened on the Lucknow-Agra expressway in the morning on Wednesday. According to official records, the hit of the two vehicles was so heavy that people could be seen getting flung out of the vehicle and both the bus and the milk tanker overturned. The end of the double-decker bus was apparently pulverized. Drivers of both of both vehicles have been declared dead. Reportedly, the bus was traveling at a high speed which could’ve led to the accident, although the cause of the crash is still under ongoing investigation and a probe has been launched. 

Bodies On Ground, Shattered Glass, And Destroyed Belongings

Upon the arrival of the police and the emergency personnel at the scene, they witnessed passengers’ bodies on the ground twisted scraps of metal, shattered pieces of glass, and destroyed belongings of the passengers. Most of the victims of the accident were migrant workers. All injured passengers had been rushed into a hospital and are being treated there. Reportedly, the Trauma Centre of KGMU in Lucknow has also been put on alert. The police are still trying to identify all the victims. Out of all 19 passengers injured, three are said to be in critical condition. 

CM Adityanath Reacts To The Incident

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged the accident and expressed his anguish over the loss of eight people’s lives. He also urged the officials to ensure proper treatment of all passengers. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also arrived at the scene later to take stock. He figured that most of the victims were from Bihar and suggested coordination with the Bihar government. Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh also acknowledged the accident and expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving families. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge also condoled the loss of lives.
