20 May 2023, Mumbai: During a Delhi-Sydney Air India flight, passengers on board the Air India B787-800 aircraft VT-ANY, operating as flight AI-302, experienced a turbulent journey that resulted in minor injuries for seven individuals. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft encountered severe turbulence during the flight, leading to passengers reporting minor sprains.

In response to the injuries, the cabin crew promptly administered emergency first aid with the assistance of a doctor and a nurse who were among the passengers. The onboard first aid kit was utilized to provide necessary medical care. Fortunately, no hospitalization was required, and the Sydney airport manager extended medical assistance to the affected passengers upon arrival. Air India has not yet issued a comment regarding the incident. Upon landing, the airline promptly attended to the passenger, who received treatment at a hospital and was subsequently discharged.

In response to the scorpion incident, Air India conducted a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft and carried out fumigation procedures after discovering the scorpion. Additionally, the airline directed the catering department to advise dry cleaners to inspect their facilities for any potential infestations and perform fumigation, if necessary, as bugs can potentially find their way into the aircraft through supplies. The safety and well-being of passengers are of utmost importance to Air India, and they take necessary measures to address incidents and ensure passenger comfort. As the airline continues to investigate and improve its protocols, passengers can rest assured that their safety remains a top priority.
