PM Modi Marks RSS Centenary with Rs 100 Coin, Stamp Launch, and Call for Unity Amid Demographic Concerns

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates the 100th anniversary of the RSS with the launch of a Rs 100 coin and commemorative postal stamp. He calls for vigilance against demographic difficulties to India's unity.

New Delhi (India) October 1: Prime Minister Modi emphasizes the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's five main transformations: self-realization, societal peace, family enlightenment, civic kindness, and environmental care. According to him, these resolutions are a strong source of motivation for all volunteers. It helps them to confront and overcome the difficulties facing the country.

Modi said, "The glorious 100-year journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is an extraordinary example of sacrifice, selfless service, nation-building, and discipline. I am feeling immensely proud to be a part of the RSS centenary celebration." 

Modi Launches Coin and Stamp

Prime Minister Modi introduced a commemorative postal stamp and a unique Rs 100 coin. The image of Bharat Mata sitting on a lion in "varad mudra" with swayamsevaks bending before her for the first time in independent India is included on the coin. The postal stamp represents the organization's historic role in national service. It shows RSS swayamsevaks taking part in the 1963 Republic Day Parade.

He said, "This Rs 100 coin has the national emblem on one side, and on the other side, there is an image of Bharat Mata, seated on a lion in 'varad mudra', and swayamsevaks bowing down before her with dedication. This is the first time in the history of independent India that an image of Bharat Mata has been shown on our currency.”

The Prime Minister also connected the founding of the RSS to the celebration of Vijayadashami. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

Modi added, "Tomorrow is Vijayadashmi, a festival which symbolises the victory of good over evil, victory of justice over injustice, victory of truth over falsehoods, and victory of light over darkness... The establishment of RSS as an organisation on this great day 100 years ago, was no coincidence." 

Modi praises Keshav Hedgewar

PM Modi commends Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. He is the founder of the RSS for his vision of national service.

He said, "It is the fortune of the volunteers of our generation that we have the opportunity to witness such a great occasion as the centenary year of the Sangh. On this occasion today, I extend my best wishes to the millions of volunteers dedicated to national service and congratulate them. I pay my humble tribute at the feet of the founder of the Sangh, our revered ideal, the most worshipful Dr. Hedgewar ji.”

RSS History and Growth

The RSS was established in 1925 as a volunteer-run organization in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The aim of the organisation is to spread social responsibility, discipline, service, and cultural awareness.

The centennial celebrations show the Sangh's ongoing impact on India's cultural and social environment. It emphasizes on fostering unity and national character. The RSS continues to play a significant role in community projects and mobilization nationwide. The RSS has expanded to become one of the biggest volunteer-based organizations in the world.
