Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a scathing remark, accused the opposition INDI Alliance of stealing reservation from SC, ST and OBC to give to Muslim communities. He accused them of going against the constitution and said that their first act if they come in power will be to take reservation from SC, ST and OBC communities and give it to Muslim communities.
His comments from the rally at Pataliputra, Bihar on May 25th are going viral with many people criticising him for his language. In the rally he said, “INDIA Alliance can do the slavery of their vote bank if they want, they can do mujra for them if they want, I will stand firm with reservations for SC, ST, OBC and will keep fighting till I am alive.”
During his address, PM Modi emphasised the significance of upholding the rights of marginalised communities, stating, “I am giving the guarantee to Bihar, SC/ST/OBC communities, till Modi is alive, I will not let them snatch away their rights.”
He emphasised his commitment to the Indian Constitution and its principles which were laid down by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, saying that no political agenda or vote bank politics would stop him from safeguarding the reservation system.
PM Modi accused the Indian National Congress(INC) of altering laws related to minority institutions to appease their Muslims who he called their voter base. He said the changes led to the designation of many institutions as minority institutions, thereby having an impact on the reservation quotas for SC/ST/OBC individuals during admissions.
This clip is going viral on social media due to the sensational nature of his comments. His comments are very uncharacteristic for a politician to speak on a public stage. Many are calling his comments unbecoming for the Prime Minister of the country while some are in support.
The election rally was held in Bihar as part of the campaigning of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. The results for the elections will be declared on June 4th 2024.
