On October 20, the Nagpur bench issued an injunction directing animal lovers to refrain from feeding stray dogs anywhere other than animal activists’ own houses after formally adopting them.

In response to a recent ruling by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court regarding feeding stray dogs, more than 500 animal lovers and feeders from Mumbai demonstrated at the Shivaji Park grounds on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

All-black attire was required of the protesters, who were heard chanting various pro-dog-feeding slogans. There were people of all ages at the demonstration, but the majority of them were young people and animal-lover fanatics.

“We are against the Bombay High Court ruling which is punishing public feeding of stray dogs,” protester Mithali Sharma, 26, of Colaba, stated. Since these creatures have nowhere else to go and no way to support themselves, we will not be in support of something so terrible. We won’t allow Nagpur or our nation as a whole to becoming cruel to animals.
