PM Modi’s Meditation Retreat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading to Kanyakumari for a two-day meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. This comes after an intense poll campaign. His visit will be from May 30 to June 1.

33-Year-Old Photo Goes Viral

Ahead of his visit, an old photo of PM Modi from December 11, 1991, has gone viral on social media, capturing the attention of citizens and generating widespread interest. The photo is from the Ekta Yatra, a journey that started at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari and ended in Kashmir.

Ekta Yatra: A Unity March

The Ekta Yatra, also known as the Unity March, began in December 1991 and ended on January 26, 1992, in Srinagar. The march was led by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, with Narendra Modi, then a BJP worker, playing a key role in organizing the march. The aim was to show the world that India stands united against terrorism. The journey expanded to 14 states and resonated deeply with the people, laying stress on the country’s commitment to national unity.

Historic Photo with Murli Manohar Joshi

In the viral photo, Narendra Modi and Murli Manohar Joshi are seen paying their respects at the statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Rock Memorial. The memorial honours Swami Vivekananda, who meditated there in 1892 and envisioned a developed India.

PM Modi’s Previous Meditation Journey

This is not the first time PM Modi has undertaken a spiritual retreat after an election campaign. After the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, he visited Uttarakhand and meditated in a cave near the Kedarnath, which drew global attention.

PM Modi’s upcoming visit to Kanyakumari for meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial follows a long tradition of seeking spiritual peace after the hectic political activities. The resurfacing of his old photo from the Ekta Yatra has added historical significance to this visit.
