Now three months later, the remark does not look funny. She was criticized for disrespectful representation of the dead bodies/body donors and an investigation has been ordered.

KEM Hospital Launches Internal Investigation

The hospital has ordered an inquiry against Pawar. Such remarks are entirely unacceptable, said the Dean of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital Dr Harish Pathak. He has appointed a two-member committee to probe the issue and furnish a report for taking necessary institutional action.

He said, "We exercise sensitivity when it comes to talking about dead people since their organs can be donated for medical purposes. We have constituted a two-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation expected by evening.”

AIMSA Condemns Insensitive Representation

The All India Medical Students' Association has strongly criticised the insensitive and disrespectful representation of dead bodies.

"Every cadaver represents a noble individual who made the selfless decision of body donation for the advancement of medical education and scientific learning. It is because of these donors that generations of medical students are able to learn human anatomy and become doctors dedicated to saving countless lives. Such contributions deserve the highest degree of dignity, gratitude, and respect," AIMSA said.

“We also urge the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, to urgently intervene and ensure that such insensitive content, which disrespects body donors, medical ethics, and human dignity, is not promoted, broadcast, or circulated on any platform in the future," the body added.

Sejal Pawar Issues Public Apology

A clip of the comedian Pranit More's show is being circulated on social media in which Pawar could be seen talking about the dead bodies used for medical studies. Pawar can be heard saying that different parts of the body are chopped and she compares the size of the dead male patient's genitalia. Pawar has since apologised for the remark.

Pawar stated that she takes complete responsibility for her remarks and acknowledges the possibility of their being misunderstood.

She said, "I genuinely want to address a clip from a recent video that has been circulating. Having watched it back, I completely understand why people were upset by what I said. The topic is a sensitive one, and my comments came across in a way they shouldn't have. While there was never any intention to disrespect anyone, I recognise that impact matters more than intent.”

"As a student, this has been a learning experience for me, and it has made me reflect on the way I communicate, especially when discussing subjects that deserve greater thought and sensitivity. To everyone who was disappointed or hurt by the clip, I understand what went wrong, and I am genuinely sorry for that, and I would never let this happen ever again!" she added.

Trump Said Mojtaba Khamenei Backed Deal

Trump claimed that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei had approved the pact. The agreement has been accepted because we have already taken a pounding, stated the US president about Iran's acceptance of the deal.

He asserted that the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route to transport global oil shipments and on which Iran claimed to have imposed a block, will be re-opened after the signing.

The development comes following Trump's threat to escalate the conflict further with a more vigorous bombing of Iran and seizing control of the oil production including capturing Iran's Kharg Island oil facility, an oil rich area of the country.

Iran Says Accord Still Under Review

Iran said that it is still to decide final ratification of the proposed accord on an end to war in West Asia, after a deal seemed within grasp and US President Donald Trump canceled his threats of an air strike against it.

According to officials in Teheran, the US President's announcement comes even as a proposed deal on ending war in the region is still being finalized by various decision making bodies of the country.

As per Iranian state media, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei had been quoted saying that news of a deal being signed is a speculation.

"We have not reached a final conclusion on this matter. This is a very important issue that is currently being reviewed by the relevant decision-making bodies," he said.

India Protests Over Ship Attacks

Meanwhile, India said that it has lodged a protest to the United States for a series of three attacks on ships carrying Indian crewmen by the US military off the coast of Oman in the past four days that left three Indians dead.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We attach high importance to the welfare and well-being of our seafaring community. When this particular attack on the ship Settebello occurred, we lodged a strong protest with the American side." 

"We summoned the US Charge d'Affaires and he was conveyed our deepest concern over the ongoing incidents of attacks. We also registered our strong protest," he added.

Addressing the Kultaranta Talks at Finland on 'Emerging Powers and the New Geopolitical Competition', Jaishankar rebutted a journalist who said India was "too sympathetic to Russia" and "too willing to buy oil from Russia".

India Buys Oil on Cost and Supply

Explaining India's stand, he said energy decisions are based on cost and supply realities.

"I'll make two observations. I buy oil based on cost and availability. So at that point of time, much of the oil available in the market was Russian because Europeans were essentially buying oil from the Middle East, which was our traditional supplier. So circumstances pushed us in a certain direction," Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar Raises Concerns Over Arms Sales

He has also highlighted Europe's inconsistency with regard to India's security concerns and emphasized that it was arm exports to the region which undermined India's security for long.

“No European country has been attacked with Indian weapons. I wish I could say that for Europe weapons vis-a-vis India," Jaishankar said.

"Europe sells weapons, which are used to attack India. Not just now but for many years. We Indians have never done anything to endanger Europe. I think that's a reasonable point," he added.

US Encouraged India to Buy Russian Oil

Jaishankar highlighted that in 2022, even the US was conscious of the essential part that India played in balancing the global economy. He reiterated that the US had encouraged New Delhi to purchase crude oil from Russia to stabilize the energy markets and prevent an inflationary meltdown.

“At that time, the US directly asked India to buy Russian oil to stabilize the oil market. We buy oil based on cost and availability," he said.

“People should also remember that, at that time, the United States specifically asked India to buy Russian oil to help stabilize global markets. After first imposing tariffs on us last year for buying Russian oil, the US then lifted its sanctions on Russian oil. Let’s not pretend there is some great principle involved here,” Jaishankar added.

Energy Security Remains India's Priority

The Union Minister asserted that India's energy decisions are based on its self-interest and energy security needs and reiterated that Russia is currently the largest supplier of oil to India whereas the United States is its largest supplier of natural gas.

India has consistently justified its imports of discounted Russian crude on the grounds of energy security and affordable prices despite Western sanctions on Russia.

Rana Dies After Sudden Health Complications

At the time of his death, he was serving as High-Performance Coach of Indian pistol shooters and had recently become ill returning from the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany. 

Rana fell unwell during the flight back to New Delhi and was taken to the hospital immediately after his arrival. Following various tests, it was discovered that he required a stent procedure, which unfortunately the coach could not recover from.

India's Olympic gold medalist in shooting, Abhinav Bindra, said Rana made India proud globally.

“Heartbroken to hear about Jaspal Rana’s passing. Jaspal was my teammate, and in many ways, part of a generation that helped shape Indian shooting. He was intense, gifted, and carried the pride of the country every time he stepped onto the range,” Bindra said.

Mentored Manu Bhaker to Olympic Success

Considered one of India's best shooters, Rana had an illustrious career before he became a coach and left an equal mark in the field. Rana devoted himself towards mentoring young talent. 

After being appointed the Junior National Pistol Coach in 2012, Rana played an integral role in grooming some of the biggest stars in Indian shooting, and also helped in grooming Olympian and gold medalist Manu Bhaker, with whom she made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics winning two bronze medals.

Rana's way of recreating the Olympic match conditions was greatly appreciated.

Born in Uttarakhand on June 28, 1976, Rana brought India tremendous fame. Rana specialized in pistol shooting events, and had won 15 gold medals altogether in high-quality events. 

Of these, he had won 4 Asian Games gold, 9 Commonwealth Games gold, one Asian Championship gold and one World Junior Championship gold medals from 1994 to 2006.

For his significant contribution to the development of Indian shooting, the government honoured him with the Dronacharya award in 2020.

Taliban Official Condemn Latest Strike

The chief spokesperson of the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that the recent air raids were directed at Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan and they have claimed the lives of 11 children, one woman, and one elderly man. He then proceeded to share images of some of the children who were victims of the most deadly Pakistani airstrikes witnessed in weeks. These strikes had been carried out when their victims were deep in their sleep; they never stood a chance to escape the bombardments. 

"Last night, the Pakistani military once again violated Afghanistan's airspace and bombed civilian homes in the provinces of Kunar, Khost, and Paktika," Mujahid said on social media platform X.

He added, "As a result of these attacks, 11 children, one woman, and one elderly man were killed, while 14 other women and children were injured.”

Deadliest Strike Since Border Clashes

This latest airstrike by Pakistan is the deadliest in a long time after the relative peace at the border post fights between the two countries in February when conflict took off between Pakistan and Afghanistan with great intensity along the border and unprecedented airstrikes conducted by Pakistan on Afghanistan.

These allegations come at a time when regional tensions are at an all time high including a renewed outbreak of conflicts between the US and Iran in the Middle East along with rising tensions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir where riots have broken out between protestors and the police.

Pakistan Cites Militants Behind Operations

Previous statements by the Pakistani authorities stated that operations on Afghan soil were intended towards militant factions causing the assaults on Pakistan and that innocent lives were not deliberately targeted.

Pakistan claims its strikes inside Afghan territory is merely a response to the Afghan government of the Taliban providing safe haven for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) responsible for fatal assaults on Pakistan within their territory which resulted in death of hundreds.

Taliban Rule Continues to Strain Relations

The bilateral ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan were strained as the Taliban took control of the Afghan territory in 2021. The Pakistani authorities had accused Afghanistan of hosting terrorist groups responsible for these deadly attacks, especially their own Pakistani Taliban or TTP, who despite their alliances and connection with the Afghan Taliban's rule over the country since the withdrawal of the U.S. Troops have not been found in possession by their nation.

The ₹370 Biryani statement triggered outrage after the clip of the incident was widely shared on social media and deemed offensive and backward by users on various platforms. Various influencers jumped into the controversy and questioned both audience members and the way it was handled. 

Dolly Singh React to Viral Controversy

Dolly Singh shared a lengthy note on social media addressing all male comedians and content creators.

She said, "If you can act all mature, open-minded, women-respecting (saying you're a feminist ally would be a stretch) in your sets and overall media footprint, please at least try to act the same performative act in your crowdwork and Instagram too!”

She added, "Of course there are many misogynistic pieces of s* male creators/comics; what can we even say to them? But those who are at least nice (main toh performative hi bolungi vaise), I request you please bring it to your audience interactions too, online or offline.”

Date Conversation Turns Controversial

The trouble started when Jangra during the interaction with comedian Pranit on stage spoke about a particular date, claiming that he spent Rs 370 for a portion of chicken biryani. 

He later implied that since he paid for the meal he must expect something in return from her. The comments which many people interpret as sexually suggestive became viral across all social media platforms and the criticism against him snowballed.

After the clip went viral, thousands of users condemned Jangra's comments calling out his entitlement issues for expecting anything in return simply for paying for dinner. 

Viral Biryani Comment Leads to Termination

Jangra's employer Gurugram-based branding and social media company Starvik Design received a large number of messages from users asking them to take action against him.

Founder Vivek Vishwakarma addressed the controversy via a video, stating that the remarks did not align with the company's ethos and also acknowledged the issue began to have a negative impact on the office itself. According to him the dispute moved beyond just comments made after office hours. 

The outrage surrounding the controversy had started to negatively affect its employees, clients and the overall working environment thus a decision to separate from Jangra was made. The decision by the company was applauded by users on social media. 

Pranit More Issues Public Apology

Pranit More also posted an apology on Instagram regarding the same. He wrote, "I've seen the criticism regarding a recent crowdwork clip. The comments made by the audience member do not reflect my views. Looking back, I should have challenged the remark instead of laughing and moving on. That was a lapse in judgement on my part.”

"Physical relationship between two consenting unmarried adults cannot and should not by itself be a ground to draw an adverse impression about the character of the person in that relationship. There is no law which prohibits two consenting unmarried adults to have a relationship of their choice," the court said.

Police Recruit Selection Cancelled Over Case

A bench comprising Justices Manmohan and Manoj Misra was hearing the plea of candidate who was found to have a criminal case registered against him in 2014 which resulted in the cancellation of his provisional selection as a Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constable by the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board. 

The candidate faced the charge under IPC sections of offences related to sex on the false promise of marriage in which the complainant was a woman known to the candidate and was later settled before a Lok Adalat. The case was disclosed by him in his application form itself. 

Rejection Based on Moral Grounds

The court said that just because one relationship did not mature to matrimony did not mean that authorities could form a cynical attitude and not be sensitive to changing social ethos, especially of young individuals. The selection of candidate was initially cancelled on the ground of moral turpitude in which the case registered against him was relevant to form such a conclusion. 

Later on, it was set aside by a single judge of the Telangana High Court who directed the concerned authorities to reconsider the matter but the selection was again cancelled and the single judge again directed to appoint the candidate and was reversed by a division bench and was thus compelled to approach the apex court. 

No Evidence of Force Found: Supreme Court 

The top court had noted that relationships of a physical nature are no longer uncommon among young adults, and that when two adult individuals are involved in a relationship for a prolonged period, a legitimate assumption that the same was consensual must arise. 

The top court found that both the complainant and the candidate were neighbors and had acquainted with each other since a good period of time, and found that there was no material on record to suggest any use of coercion or force to obtain the compromise.

JAAC Ban Leads to Unrest in PoK

The local government (LGA) recently banned JAAC on anti-terrorism grounds and had a disagreement about reserving 12 legislative seats for Kashmiri refugees, causing riots in Rawalakot and its neighbouring areas in PoK. 

The demonstrators rail against rising inflation, the cost of electricity and a lack of basic goods. Pakistani government deployments of paramilitaries have stemmed the flow of conflict which has led to bloody conflicts and deaths of many. 

Many people were wounded in the fighting between demonstrators and security forces at Rawalakot, inviting calls for an independent inquiry and condemning the deaths. 

HRCP Seeks Independent Investigation

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) found it alarming that tempers had flared in the area with reports of casualties. The Commission called for immediate de-escalation and an impartial inquiry into the deaths and injuries, noting that banning public movements inevitably threatens to shrink the political arena and that the request for alteration of the constitution should be addressed by constitutional processes, representative means, and democratic principles. 

India Criticises Pakistan Over Human Rights Issues

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticized the Pakistani government over alleged “brutality” on people in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and called for the international community to take Pakistan to task over alleged human rights violations in the region. 

"We continue to see in this context, a pattern of fake news and videos emanating from Pakistan. It is a desperate attempt by Pakistan to cover-up its own failings and deflect attention away from its human rights abuses," MEA said.

"There are reports of severe police brutality in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in which several protestors have been killed and many injured. We hope the international community will hold Pakistan accountable for its misdeeds and abuses," the ministry added.

His request for anticipatory bail was heard in the court of the District Judge. The court said while the investigation team can interrogate Khan over the case, they cannot use any coercive or punitive action against him as long as the interim protection stays.

Anticipatory Bail Plea Filed by Khan Sir

Khan Sir’s counsel, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, approached the court with an anticipatory bail application a day after police named him in an FIR lodged regarding the alleged firing outside his coaching centre Khan Global Studies on the intervening night of June 2. Khan is likely to approach the Patna High Court soon to file a petition for quashing the FIR against him. 

“The court has stayed his (Mr. Khan’s) arrest till further orders, and ordered for presenting the case diary and other antecedents of the guards who were earlier arrested by the Patna police and their weapons that were seized for forensic test on the next hearing date,” said Khan’s lawyer.

Rival Coaching Director Awaits Relief

The Patna court had earlier deferred its decision on the anticipatory bail petition of Raushan Anand, the director of Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute.

However, members of Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre have accused Khan of orchestrating the attack on his centre. Students supporting Raushan had organized a protest in the state capital demanding his release and seeking action against Khan.

Coaching Centre Clash Leads to Violence

The incident occurred following clashes between rival coaching centers-Khan Global Studies and another- with a group allegedly barging into the premises of Khan's coaching centre. The attackers vandalised the coaching institute and tore down banners and posters put up on the institute's premises. The group is also alleged to have assaulted guards and created chaos by allegedly firing shots.

A complaint was filed by Khan Global Studies after which police had arrested the director of the rival coaching centre and few others.

The police investigation took a dramatic turn after the emergence of a video in which two security guards were seen firing into the air. They were subsequently arrested and during police questioning, reportedly confessed to having acted on the orders of Khan Sir. The police have now registered an FIR against him and two others in this connection.

Second LPG Price Hike in Three Months

The current price hike would be effective across the country but the final retail price for one cylinder would differ from city to city depending upon local taxes and transportation costs. 

It follows a ₹ 60 hike a cylinder on March 7 after the conflict in West Asia resulted in a shock in energy supplies and drove international fuel prices. This increase was only a "partial compensation" for the losses that the country suffered on domestic sale of LPG. 

This hike comes at a time when various other fuels also increased prices. Petrol and diesel price was raised by cumulatively ₹ 7.50 a litre since mid-May whereas CNG prices were raised by about ₹ 6 a kg.

Political Row Over Rising Prices 

The development has led to a prominent political issue with Congress accusing the Narendra Modi government of being in a sinister conspiracy to tax the people with already spiraling cost of living and the Center arguing that consumers are "protected" from a complete impact of global energy shock.

The Congress again attacked the government. The party said, "'Inflation Man Modi' has cracked the whip again. Now the domestic gas cylinder has been made 29 rupees more expensive. Modi's formula is clear, extort from the public, fill the coffers of rich friends.”

Global Market Pressures Impact LPG Rates

It is said that a domestic LPG cylinder supply cost has now crossed ₹ 1,600 in view of skyrocketing international prices as a result of the war in West Asia and the disruption in transit through the Strait of Hormuz, which is a major route for energy supplies from the Gulf.

The price of LPG in India is linked to Saudi Contract Price the global benchmark set by Saudi Aramco-which, the government claims, has increased by 46 per cent since February.

The CJP has called for government action against recent exam failures within seven days. If no such action is initiated, the youth-led party has threatened a countrywide agitation.

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of Cockroach Janata Party, accused the Centre of focusing on social media activities of the party instead of addressing their demands which included resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in view of the recent controversies over examinations.

"My friends, this is a long struggle. It has been a month since we started demanding Pradhan's resignation on social media, but these individuals are so shameless that instead of taking action, they have been focused on other distractions, like hacking our accounts and getting our posts deleted. You may be able to delete our posts, but you cannot erase us from this space," he said

Delhi Police Detain Six to Prevent Clash

Delhi police detained six people to avoid potential clash between two groups at the demonstration organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), authorities said. The students were detained in a bid to avoid possible confrontation between supporters and opposers of the online protest. They have made preventive detentions to maintain law and order in view of a possibility of conflict.

Arvind Kejriwal Backs CJP Demonstration

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal came out in support of the protest and said the demonstrations by the Cockroach Janta Party show the rage and anger of the youth of the country. 

In a post on X, he said to the Modi government to listen to the issues of the protesters rather than call them anti-national. He should remove Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the cabinet immediately.

Security Staff Claim Khan Sir Ordered Firing

The investigators had registered the FIR. When the security guards were asked by the police officials during the interrogation about the fire, they said that Khan Sir gave them the command. The guards also added that Khan Sir asked them to shoot the crowd gathered at the entrance of the institute and also said that one guard was severely beaten by them. 

A police officer said, “The FIR was registered based on the statement of assistant sub-inspector Anil Kumar under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25, 27, and 35 of the Arms Act (relating to possession of illegal arms, and unlawful use of firearm. The guards confessed that they fired two rounds each after Khan told them to fire and assured them he would handle the fallout.” 

Khan Sir Says Guards Acted in Self-Defence

In a video, Khan Sir himself said that the security guards had fired in self-defence. “There was a scuffle going on. I knew police would take time to reach. Police cannot fly to the spot. So the guards fired in self-defence,” he said.

Khan Sir himself was seen showing to the students the CCTV footage of the incident and complaining that an individual taking away a student of the coaching center has not been arrested till now and the real issue is being diluted. 

Students Rally in Support Outside Institute

Thousands of students also came out in the streets in order to support Khan Sir outside Khan Global Studies. More police force was sent and students were later requested to disperse off the institute premises. 

Police made an appeal to students to not fall prey to the traps of coaching institutions, extend full cooperation to the administration and stated that an impartial inquiry is being carried out.

Rival Coaching Centre Director Held in Case

It had been a few days that Khan Sir claimed eight to ten rounds of gunfire took place outside the Khan Global Studies Coaching Center as a group of people vandalized the institute premises in Musallahpur of Patna. He had stated that few individuals attacked his institution and that his business rivals are behind the incident. 

Raushan Anand, the director of the rival coaching center was arrested along with two other persons in relation to the vandalism case. It is being stated that the animosity between the coaching centers is because they often lay claim to student success in Bihar police exams. 

CJP has positioned its movement as one for youth holding leaders accountable to India's education system claiming that issues relating to exam scams affected millions of young students nationwide. This particular protest at the Jantar Mantar, which began as a meme on the internet with the political group claiming millions of supporters with Gen Z following.

CJP has positioned its movement as a "political youth movement" attempting to shift the narrative and political dialogue in India. The movements have a larger reflection of general frustration towards the system among youth, driven by the rising inflation and unemployment, also by perceived shortcomings in the education system. Along with CJP, Ladakh based activist Sonam Wangchuk also joined them for the movement.

CJP's manifesto calls for the banning of post-retirement positions at Rajya Sabha for chief justices, the appointment of a 50% women representation at Lok Sabha without changing its total seats and the 20 year political bar for MLAs and MPs who cross vote.

Speaking to supporters at Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke stated why it was important to organize rallies, as protests are necessary, they are a reminder that youth will not stay quiet.

Dipke also informed that the protests were to show and assert their rights and concerns as students and youth.

"People say, what does it achieve by holding movements, sit-ins, demonstrations, and taking out processions? It proves that we are alive! For the government, we may be mere insects, but we are alive and capable of fighting for our rights," he said.

Accusing the government of not responding to its demands which included the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, he called the government's response as only targeting the group's online influence.

Further in his speech, the CJP founder informed that measures were taken to hinder their social media presence.

"It has been a month since we started demanding Pradhan's resignation on social media, but instead of taking action, they have been focused on other distractions, like hacking our accounts and getting our posts deleted. You may be able to delete our posts, but you cannot erase us from this space," he said.

Students, young professionals and many parents reached the place as students wearing cockroach masks wore their demands written on their faces and carried flowers, demonstrating over alleged exam and recruitment irregularities.

Participants were raising slogans, "Dharmendra Pradhan resign" over alleged mistakes at the examinations like NEET, CUET, CBSE and SSC.

The issue was listed before a bench of Justice Saurabh Banerjee and Justice Amit Sharma by the counsel for Save India Foundation.

CJP, Police Clash Over Permission

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and Delhi Police seemed to be heading for a confrontation, as the police said that they had not received any request from the CJP seeking permission for the protest, even though party leaders said that it would be held regardless of whether a permission was given or not.

Security arrangements and preventive measures will depend on the developments on the ground and intelligence inputs, but for now, as of now 1,000 personnel have been deployed. The role of any political parties backing it are also being looked into.

Online Campaign Draws Young Supporters

The plea states that the Cockroach Janata Party has been actively running an online campaign, and is calling for a massive mobilization to assemble at Jantar Manta in the national capital, specifically on June 6. It alleges that the campaign has rapidly gained traction on social media platforms and has successfully gathered large numbers of young individuals.

Plea Seeks Enhanced Security Measures

The plea says that a representation was made to the Police Commissioner on June 4, highlighting concerns about potential law and order issues and the petitioner organization urged for appropriate precautionary and crowd control measures to be instituted by Delhi police. Despite prompt notification, no substantial public reassurance or comprehensive preventive framework has been disseminated.

In addition to other requested reliefs, the plea also seeks directions to the Delhi police and all other relevant agencies to effectively control, restrict or relocate the proposed gathering, ensure sufficient resources are allocated for crowd management, and ensure security for vulnerable public infrastructure including IGI Airport and public transport systems.

CJP Born From CJI Remark

The CJP movement originated from an oral observation of the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on May 15 during Supreme Court proceedings, where the latter was observed to be concerned about the unemployed youth moving towards social media and RTI activism. 

The CJI mentioned these youngsters to be "like cockroaches" and a parasite in the society. Later, CJI clarified his remark pertained to fake degree holders.

The Cockroach Janata Party was founded by a resident of Boston, Abhijeet Dipke. The CJP aims to express itself through satire to comment on issues that pertain to institutional accountability, unemployment, media freedom, etc.

"The portal, launched on 2nd June 2026 to facilitate services such as verification and re-evaluation of answer scripts for candidates who had appeared in the XII Board Examination, was subjected to repeated and coordinated cyber attacks over the past three days. The attacks involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses within and outside the country," CBSE said.

 CBSE Approaches Delhi Police over Breach

According to a press release from the Board, a formal complaint was submitted to the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police. 

Delhi Police registered an FIR on Friday following the CBSE complaint and officials said that the FIR was registered under Section 66 read with Section 43 (f) of the IT Act and an investigation has been initiated to nab the culprits behind the attack. 

Agencies Help CBSE Block Cyber Threats

The portal which was launched on June 2 to verify results and also apply for verification of marks and re-evaluation is being used by several lakhs of students and faced repeated cyber attacks in the last three days from numerous Indian and overseas IPs. 

CBSE stated that its technical teams were on a round-the-clock surveillance and were taking preventive measures to ensure uninterrupted services. It said that with the support of cybersecurity teams of IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, Digital India Corporation, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), CERT-In and various Central Government agencies the attacks were thwarted and stopped. 

OSM System Faces Scrutiny Claims

CBSE has also come under criticism in recent days from many class 12 students who have alleged that their scanned copies uploaded by the board did not match their handwriting, which put the OSM system under question, and there may have been mismatches in the OSM system, on Tuesday Cabinet Secretariat approved the formation of a one-member committee to investigate the procurement of services for the OSM system by the CBSE. 

Dimple, the deceased, who resided in Patiala, was employed by the logistics company, as was Harjinder Singh Mann, the accused. 

CCTV Captures Brutal Attack in Mohali

The accused assailant, Harjinder Singh Mann, stabbed his lover to death in front of her colleagues and later tried to kill himself, using the same knife. CCTV footage of the firm captured the act and police have mounted a detailed investigation in this matter. 

They both had been employed by a private courier company and had become lovers because of their employment. Yet their relationship ended six months ago. 

Victim Dies, Accused Fights for Life

The police said they had arguments between them that their relationship was over, but the man was still unable to reconcile and kept asking Dimple to be with him again. However, the woman did not respond well and this left him dejected over the past several weeks. 

The fatal incident happened late Thursday at the firm situated in Mohali. The police also wrote that the two had argued, and that Harjinder had stabbed her multiple times with a knife after a few colleagues went ahead to stop him. The same knife was then taken by the killer, who then stabbed himself after stabbing the woman several times with it. 

At approximately 7.40 p.m., the team rushed to the location and found the two critically injured and rushed them to Fortis hospital. While the woman died during the treatment, Harjinder Singh Mann remains in the ICU in an acute medical condition. 

Police Seize CCTV Footage, Launch Probe

A case of murder has now been registered at the police station and the whole incident has led to detailed investigation. Police sealed the scene of the crime and a forensic team gathered as much as possible. 

The footage from the security cameras located in the premises has also been seized for comprehensive investigation of the incident. Police said they are examining every facet of the incident. The victim’s colleague is being investigated with tight scrutiny of their relationships and the occasion that preceded it. 

“The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nitin Nabin, has accepted the resignation submitted by the Tamil Nadu Ex. State President, K. Annamalai from the primary membership of the Party,” BJP said in an official statement.

Exit Follows Meetings with Top Leaders

The decision followed three days after him holding meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nabin, and the national general secretary of the party B.L. Santhosh submitted a resignation letter to the party leadership on June 2. Sources say that Mr. Annamalai informed the party leadership of the political conditions in Tamil Nadu and what has prompted him to leave his party membership. 

At the same time, Tamil Nadu BJP’s Nainar Nagenthran underplayed the quitting of K Annamalai from the party and assured that there was "no loss" on his departure as far as he is concerned. 

Annamalai Cites Leadership Differences

Annamalai said that he had been involved in “disagreements” with top BJP leadership over the last 18 months. 

“I would recall the multiple conversations with the top leadership and the disagreements I have expressed over the last 18 months. I do not want to burden the top leadership any further with my ongoing thoughts on the way forward for a growth-oriented and culturally rooted politics in Tamil Nadu. After my conversation with our senior leadership, I have come to the conclusion that our views don't align regarding Tamil Nadu," Annamalai said.

Exit Seen As Setback for BJP

In some quarters of the BJP, Annamalai's resignation is being seen as a major blow to its aims in Tamil Nadu. Having worked for some time as head of the party in Tamil Nadu, the ex-IPS officer had made it to the top of the BJP in the south leading to increasing the morale of the cadre and its leadership in the state. 

He was seen as contributing to the enhancement of the BJP's position through hard-hitting campaign style, openly targeting political rivals and extensive networking of party supporters. 

In an interview with news agency ANI, the founder of India’s T20 league narrated several instances of extortion attempts, assassinations plans and a dramatic late-night confrontation via satellite phone with the fugitive gangster. 

Lalit Modi Recalls Late-Night Dawood Call

According to Modi, the “most direct interaction” happened in London in 2012 when a fixer in London called him up at 3:30 am to coerce him into coming to a penthouse of a highly connected businessman. 

Modi claimed the intermediary dialled Dawood Ibrahim on a satellite phone, switched the speakerphone on, and made the fugitive talk to him. 

"I pissed in my pants, I'll tell you this. Without doubt. Right there and then," Modi said.

"He simply says, 'Abhi se tumhara sab kaam khatam' and put down the phone.”

Weekly Extortion Demands Followed

Modi stated that after this meeting, a wave of weekly calls began where the intermediary asked for “hush money” for the syndicate’s demand to have a franchise. 

The syndicate reportedly asked Modi to pay them because his decisions had cost them a lot in the underground satta bazaar or gambling market. 

IPL Shift Hurt Betting Syndicates

According to Modi, the conflict with the syndicate escalated significantly in 2009 during the second season of IPL. In 2009, in 48 hours, in less than 2 days, Lalit Modi moved the whole of India Premier League to South Africa. The sudden shift destabilized the whole of the world's betting, illegal betting, and underworld. The syndicate was holding very high bets that this tournament is not going to happen, so they wanted to do a big strike on Modi. 

“They accused me of moving IPL to South Africa when they thought it's not ever going to move because they ate the bets up," Modi said.

Modi Alleges Multiple Attack Plots

Modi added that his no-nonsense approach towards fixing during his tenure as chairman of IPL (2008-2010) was another major reason that riled the mafia. He admitted to stopping any spot-fixing and barring notorious people from entering the stadium while turning down bribe money of several crores. 

Following this, all the hits started happening, according to Modi. He cited a shooting outside his residence in Mumbai, an aborted hit in Johannesburg and another one intercepted at the Croatian border as instances. He also alleged an attempted abduction of his son in Sloane Street in London. 

Previous to the blaze, there had been a Look Out Circular for Bajaj and his wife, as investigators were cracking down more on the people responsible for working in the hotel that the fire began at. 

Bajaj Blames Others for Hotel Operations

Bajaj alleged he had resigned day-to-day management of the establishment to someone else, responsible for accounting, billing and general management of the hotel. 

He also told the police that he was advised by a person whose identity was not revealed that increases in room size and other structural alterations be implemented and that those changes were standard practice in Delhi. 

Fire Claims 21 Lives, Foreigners Among Victims

On Wednesday morning, 21 people, some of them foreigners, perished in the blaze that consumed the establishment in Hauz Rani, South Delhi. 12 foreign nationals were among those injured, with many being in the hotel during patient care in nearby hospitals.

As reported by the Bangladesh High Commission, five Bangladeshi nationals have been injured. 

Probe Finds Major Safety and Building Violations

According to reports from investigations and Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood, the guest house was operated without a fire No-Objection Certificate (NOC) necessary by law and had defied multiple safety regulations. Reportedly, the facility had one entrance point to the building. The main door, sensor operated, and fixed windows blocked rapid evacuation by hotel guests. 

Investigators also uncovered signs the property was operating beyond its permissible threshold; the property was said to have had just authorization for six rooms using its Bed and Breakfast policy but had reportedly been operating around 25 rooms. The authorities had apparently not approved an increment of floors above the permissible limit. 

Delhi CM Promises Strict Action, FIR Registered

Delhi CMO warned the oversight that resulted in the fatal Malviya Nagar hotel blaze would be dealt with utmost gravity, and whoever is held accountable would bear the consequences. 

Delhi Police have lodged an FIR and charged the parties responsible based on sections for culpable homicide and relevant sections of the BNS. They are also investigating the culpability of others connected with the property. 

Allegations Raised at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Event

The allegations made by the women employee were brought out at a press conference called by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. The complainant alleged that a female colleague frequently pressured her to change her religion to Islam and get into a relationship with a Muslim male. 

The company officials failed to take action on her complaints and she was forced to resign. The lawyer representing her has asked for reinstatement with a withdrawal of the resignation and compensation of Rs 50 lakh.

Colleague Allegedly Pressured Her to Change Religion

According to the complaint filed by the ex-employee, the colleague allegedly tried to intrude into her personal life and insisted that she quit her Hindu religion. The employee reportedly raised her voice and stopped her colleague from interfering with her personal life to avoid problems but the latter persisted in persuading her to change her religion.

She said she had registered her grievances with the top management of the company but no action was taken against the colleague and rather a complaint was registered against her before the internal Ombuds Committee of Wipro. She also said that some company officials were being prejudiced in handling her complaint, as evidence had been provided with the official channel, but it was not given proper attention.

Legal Notice Seeks Reinstatement and Compensation

The lawyer representing the woman employee, Vivek Bhosale, allegedly stated that the resignation has been taken forcefully and is against the basic principles of natural justice and labor law. A legal notice has been sent to Wipro seeking reinstatement with a continuity of service with the company.

The notice has also called for an official apology and the appropriate action to be taken against the guilty. Failure to take any action would result in civil, criminal and labour court action, stated the notice. 

Wipro Confirms Commitment to Employee Welfare

Wipro has issued a statement stating that they are committed towards the well-being of their employees.

"At Wipro, employee welfare, dignity, and respect are paramount. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards any form of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, or actions that compromise an individual's fundamental rights and freedoms," it said.

Kuwait Takes Diplomatic Action Against Iran

Two Iranian embassy officials have been ordered to leave Kuwait within 24 hours after a strike on a Kuwait airport, killing one and wounding several dozens of others.

According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, deputy foreign minister Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan summoned the Islamic republic's chargé d'affaires in Kuwait, Hamed Hamid Yaqoubi Far, and handed him an official protest memorandum against the continued attacks launched by Iran. He also told him of Kuwait's decision to downsize Iran's embassy staff, designating two embassy members "persona non grata" and demanding that they leave the country within 24 hours.

India Confirms Death of Its Citizen

The foreign ministry of India condemned the attack and announced that the person killed was an Indian national.

"We condemn the attack on the Kuwait International Airport today in which an Indian national has died and several of our nationals are injured. Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. We again call upon parties to cease such attacks," MEA said.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Our Embassy is extending all possible assistance to those injured. We remain in close contact with local authorities for the welfare of Indian nationals. Indian Missions and Posts across the region are on alert and continue to proactively support our community," it added.

Iran Announces Mourning for Khamenei

Iranian officials announced that a three-day public mourning will be held for former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the opening day of the U.S.-Israel war against Iran according to state news reports.

Tehran deputy mayor, Mohammad Amin Tavakoli-Zadeh laid out the logistical plans of multi-city mournings, explaining that the scheduled processions are planned to be carried out in a variety of prominent city locations such as the capital Tehran, as well as the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad. 

According to Mr. Tavakoli-Zadeh, the major ceremonies in the capital city of Tehran are to continue for more than 24 hours, and city officials are currently working on the infrastructure to handle a total of 20 million citizens in the capital alone.

Fire is believed to have broken out at about 8.50 am in the basement restaurant, Lemon Green Restaurant, located in the five-storey building known as Flourish Stay B&B which also occupied the Micasa Inn hotel adjoining it. As fire and dense smoke spread through both the buildings, hotel guests and employees were trapped.

LG Orders Month-Long Safety Audit

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has ordered a month-long fire safety check at all the hotels, nursing homes, coaching institutes, restaurants and other risk-prone commercial establishments to take place from June 4. He chaired a meeting with officials of concerned departments to direct them to ensure strict compliance of the fire safety norms.

Overcrowded rooms, violations of fire safety norms and the use of sealed glass windows and sensor-operated gates which malfunctioned during the fire turned a South Delhi hotel into a death trap on Wednesday as many occupants of the establishment could not escape due to the spreading flames and thick smoke.

Hotel Operated Beyond Licensed Capacity

According to fire officials, despite being issued a B&B (Bed and Breakfast) licence for only six rooms, the five-storey establishment was operating about 25 rooms across the basement, ground and upper floors. They added that the building also did not have a fire No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Mr Abhilash Kumar Malik, Chief Fire Officer, stated that the building had a basement, ground floor and five upper floors, with rooms running on all floors, including the terrace. He further added that the structure's design further contributed to the dilemma of the occupants, with little scope for escape.

Delhi to End Bed and Breakfast Scheme

The Delhi government has decided to withdraw the Bed and Breakfast scheme in its official capacity, and to review all establishments that have been running under it as per the Tourism minister Kapil Mishra.

“We are going to officially withdraw the Bed and Breakfast scheme, and all establishments licensed under it will be checked,” Mishra said to PTI.

“Action would be taken against operators found violating the terms of the licence. If any establishment registered under the scheme is found running more than six rooms, its licence will be cancelled,” he added.

Rival Coaching Centre Angle Under Scanner

The incident has reportedly been linked to a possible rivalry between two coaching institutes. Sources are of the view that the motive behind the firing might be competition to get dominance between Khan Sir's coaching center and the coaching institute of the rival. No person had any injuries. Only the security guard has been injured. 

Khan Sir Alleges Threats Over Low Coaching Fees

Khan sir said he did not have knowledge of what exactly happened in the incident as he only told whatever security guard told him about the whole incident. 

"There was so much chaos at that time that I could not understand. I said what the guard had told me," he said.

"The Bihar Police recruitment results had come out, thousands of students had qualified, and we were tired after all the work. Then some anti-social elements came and started threatening us. They assaulted our guards. It appears they are associated with coaching institutes and are troubled by our low fees," Khan Sir added.

Police Collect Evidence, Launch Investigation

On receiving information on firing Police forces reached the coaching center to investigate the incident. They examined the situation and also found some evidence and collected statements of the witnesses and residents to make sure of the sequence of the incident to trace criminals. 

“We received information around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday about stone-pelting and damage to property at Khan Global Coaching Institute under the jurisdiction of Kadamkuan police station. A police team was immediately sent to the spot and an investigation was launched,” a statement from the City SP office said.

It has been reported by sources that there is a possible motive for this incident due to rivalry between coaching centers situated at that particular place.

CCTV Footage Shows Vandalism and Stone-Pelting

The vandalizing of CCTV and stone pelting on Khan Sir coaching center has also been shown through the CCTV image which reached this morning. The clip clearly showed stones being thrown and the flex banners of the institute being pulled down. Khan Sir has claimed that his office has also been vandalized by the criminals and has handed over the CCTV footage to the police to conduct further examination. 

Khan sir said, “The police investigation is going on. All the footage has been given. There are 20 CCTV cameras installed all over the place.”

Education Minister Calls for Strict Policies

Bihar education minister Mithilesh Tiwari said a policy would be drafted and approved by the government to maintain order in the coaching centers across state.

“The government will formulate a policy within the next three months, after consulting all stakeholders, to stop such incidents from occurring. If these coaching institutes behave like this over rivalry and disturb law and order, then a targeted policy is required for sure,” he said.

Fire, evacuation and relief operations were then immediately conducted by the authorities. With the aid of more than 40 persons who have been admitted into nearby hospitals for medical attention, eight fire engines put out the fire. Delhi Police have filed an FIR charging the owner with culpable homicide. 

Max Hospital Reports Critical Fire Casualties

A total of 39 patients have been admitted into the emergency ward of Max Hospital, Saket Complex following the fire incident. The patients have been admitted suffering from asphyxiation, varying levels of minor burns and fractures. 

“Of the 39 patients received, 18 were brought dead, 15 are admitted in ICU, including eight patients on ventilator and in critical condition. Five patients with minor injuries were treated and discharged following primary medical care. A patient has been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital due to excessive burns," the Max Hospital said.

Hotel Owner Booked, Licences Under Scrutiny

The Fire Department statement read that a Fire No Objection Certificate had not been obtained from the Fire Department, and the owner Lovkesh Bajaj is on the run, having been found to own three hotels within a 100-meter radius, all of which were found to be operating without the appropriate licenses and documentation. 

Modi Announces Relief for Victims' Families

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences and offered his financial assistance, announcing that each of the deceased will be awarded an ex-gratia payment of 2 lakhs from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, and those who sustained injuries will receive 50,000. 

President Express Grief Over Tragedy

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her sadness at the incident, and has offered her sympathies to the families of the victims. 

"The news of the loss of lives in the fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, is extremely heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of those injured," President said in an official statement.

Authorities Probe Malviya Nagar Hotel Fire

The Fire Service in Delhi received an emergency call in the morning and rushed two water tenders, two water bowsers, and a quick-response vehicle to the scene. Three people were rescued from the basement of Lemon Green Restaurant, and they were transported to hospital in CATS ambulances. At the time of reporting, it is still unknown what the cause of the fire is, but further information is expected.

According to sources by Axios, Trump said Netanyahu, “You’re f****** crazy. What are you doing? You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a**. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”

The unprecedented discussion took place following the Israeli military ordered strikes on Hezbollah in Beirut's southern suburbs and broadened its operations in southern Lebanon which had sparked concern of an escalating regional conflict and fresh warnings from Tehran.

Iran Threatens To Halt US Peace Talks

This escalation between the two leaders came after they escalated on Monday after Netanyahu and the defense minister Israel Katz ordered strikes against areas within Beirut's southern Dahiyeh district controlled by Hezbollah in response to alleged multiple violations by the militants of a ceasefire and attacks on Israeli territory. The decision sent residents fleeing from the southern Beirut suburbs for fears of air strikes.

The Iranian government, who supports Hezbollah, issued warnings that ongoing attacks in Lebanon could jeopardize their discussions with Washington about de-escalation following weeks of fighting. A ceasefire with Lebanon was cited by the Iranian government as being central to any eventual deal between Iran and the US.

Trump Voices Concern Over Civilian Casualties

Another official claimed that Trump had expressed his concern about civilian casualties and his opposition to any strikes that involved heavy damage to localized targets. Although he acknowledged Israel's right to attack Hezbollah he asserted that the recent strikes were in excess.

The president's intervention seemed to bring about instant results. An Israeli official contacted by Axios stated that any intended attack on Hezbollah targets within Beirut had been aborted and later on Trump insisted he had spoken with Netanyahu, the troop movements to Beirut had been reversed, and that the terrorist organization had via intercessors accepted to stop targeting Israeli territory.

Netanyahu Says Position Remains Unchanged

Netanyahu made no indications of altering his military operations against the Lebanese terrorist organization, insisting he would pursue operations in southern Lebanon and maintaining attacks against Beirut were a possibility as long as Hezbollah continued to strike Israeli targets. “Our position remains the same,” Netanyahu said.

The disagreement shed light on the growing distance between the two leaders, notwithstanding close collaboration concerning Iran and regional security. The call has been described by a US official as one of the most difficult between Netanyahu and Trump since he returned to the presidency.

Israeli Leaders React To Dispute

The canceling of the attack was criticized by Israeli politicians including Itamar Ben-Gvir, the National Security Minister, which stated it was high time for Netanyahu to inform Trump "no."

Yair Lapid, the opposition leader, criticized Netanyahu's conduct during the call and the overall security of the northern Israeli region accusing him of behavior that was similar to that of a protected state to the US.

Tharoor Opposes Mandatory Full Rendition

Tharoor mentioned that people respect Vande Mataram but mandating all the verses of the song on all occasions would be difficult to explain. The MP said that conventionally, the song used to be sung only at the commencement of the official proceedings and the National Anthem at the concluding part of it.

"Vande Mataram is the national song and we stand up in respect when it is sung. The first verse, or the first couple of verses, is something most people know by heart," he said.

"Now they want all five verses to be sung at the beginning of every event and again at the end. I think that is an unnecessary imposition," he added.

Tharoor Questions Need For Repeated Singing

Tharoor added that the part of Vande Mataram that used to be sung publicly earlier was roughly of the same length as that of the National Anthem, and has since been widely adopted and respected. He stated that he expects the controversy to end soon.

"I can understand singing it once during ceremonial occasions involving the president, vice president or prime minister. But singing the entire song twice during a short programme is difficult to understand. I don't see the rationale for it, and it is not particularly efficient either," he said.

Malviya Stresses National Song Protocols

Reacting to Tharoor's statement in a blunt tone, BJP leader Amit Malviya said that singing of Vande Mataram is not "optional". Also, it is not about the states deciding casually whether to obey or not.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines are explicit: whenever Vande Mataram is rendered at official functions, the full official version is to be sung, and all six stanzas are to be played at designated government events. The guidelines further prescribe the occasions on which it must be rendered and the protocol to be followed, including standing in attention," he said.

Bhandari Accuses Congress Of Politics

Another BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also attacked Congress over the comment by Tharoor. He said that Congress is trying to malign national symbols for petty politics.

"Vande Mataram is India's national song and not a political choice, not 'optional'. If states start selectively ignoring national protocols for political appeasement, the idea of national unity itself gets weakened," Bhandari said.

"The problem is not with Vande Mataram. The problem is with those who are uncomfortable saying it. Shame on Congress. Congress is the Muslim League Maoist (Naxalite) Congress," Bhandari added.

Home Ministry Guidelines On Vande Mataram

The Home Ministry this year asked all the central and state governments and all the schools to sing Vande Mataram at the commencement of the proceedings prior to the singing of the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana. All six stanzas were to be sung and the participants were directed to stand.

RCB last played on Tuesday, May 26, where they convincingly defeated the Titans in Qualifier 1 to secure their spot in the final. On the other hand, GT had a tougher journey, traveling from Dharamsala to Chandigarh for the second qualifier, where they triumphed over their rivals, the Rajasthan Royals, to earn their place in the final.

Accused Dies During Police Action

Asad had been absconding since the stabbing and was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. He was reportedly injured in a retaliatory fire from police and pronounced dead when he was brought into a hospital, according to police. 

Officials also said that a police officer was injured in the shooting and was subsequently taken into hospital for treatment. 

Teen Stabbed After Dispute On Bakrid

On May 28, the teenager was stabbed following an argument between two groups when Asad and people he associated with stabbed him in the Khoda area of Ghaziabad on the occasion of Bakrid. Surya's family reportedly knew both sides and were in the same social circle. They also described a dispute between the two a few months before. His sister alleged that Surya was called to the scene with an illusory motive. 

The family also mentioned that Surya had run nearly 200 metres to save his life - while the attackers chased him and slashed him with knives before fleeing. 

DCP Jaiswal Details Murder And Arrests

Police reports suggest that Surya fell onto the road after being stabbed multiple times by a knife. Attackers thought he was dead, and that’s why they fled from the scene, police added. Five people were named in the FIR, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (City/Trans-Hindon), Dhaval Jaiswal. 

"Five individuals were named as accused in this case. Immediately after the incident, the police arrested three of the accused, while the main accused, Asad, remained at large. Several police teams were constituted to apprehend him, and a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for his capture," Jaiswal said.

Arrested Men Reveal Details Of Murder

Prior to the Saturday night incident, ongoing raids and search activities were in place to locate Asad. Three arrested men named Nawab (Asad's father), Farhan and Atif have also been linked to the murder. Farhan stated that after hearing the dispute between Asad and Surya on the day of May 28, they decided to go and confront the teen. 

NTA Announces Retest for Affected Students

The agency issued an official statement admitting that the test was disrupted and candidates underwent stress due to it. Adding further, it said that candidates, who have had biometric registration, appeared at their exam centres, but weren't able to finish the test because of the glitch, will be given an opportunity for examination. A fresh schedule will be released soon on the NTA website.

“We know today's unfortunate technical disruption caused distress for some CUET (UG) 2026 candidates," NTA said.

TCS Asked to Submit Cause Report

Elaborating on the details, NTA clarified that technical issues started at some centres during Shift-1, which delayed the examination. It confirmed that the technical service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS iON) was asked to immediately provide a root cause analysis report and the report will be submitted by them forthwith.

"TCS has reported that a technical glitch at their end delayed the commencement of CUET UG 2026 at some centres on Saturday. The issue has since been resolved, and the exam is being conducted with full compensatory time so that no candidate is disadvantaged,” NTA added.

Most Candidates Completed CUET UG Exam

NTA assured that after the restoration of the technical glitch, more than 95 per cent students were able to write their exams in full. However, 3,765 candidates who attended their examination centers and completed biometrics, have chosen to leave before restart of exam. As a one-time measure, a fresh examination will be conducted for them.

Exam Timings Revised After Delay

Earlier in the day, NTA had confirmed that a technical error delayed the CUET UG 2026 in several exam centers. The issue was resolved and students were provided with compensatory time.

The timing of afternoon exams were also changed to 4:00 PM and reporting at 2:30 PM instead of 3:00 PM. For the morning shifts, students were given the complete time of the paper and not allowed to leave until its completion.

NEET Row Adds to NTA Concerns

This is the second exam failure for the NTA in as many weeks, especially when students are already facing the heat after the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 following various irregularities and alleged paper leak. The exam, held on May 3, has been postponed to June 21, and a CBI probe is ordered by the Ministry of Education.

Atishi Targets Centre Over CUET Chaos

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi has launched a sharp attack on Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing the CUET delay as yet another example of incompetence.

"Today CUET has been delayed due to a ‘technical issue’. Lakhs of students were to take the exam in all parts of India today and after waiting for hours, such notices have been put up outside all centres. Remarkable incompetence @dpradhanbjp!” Atishi wrote on X.

Phogat, an MLA on Congress from Haryana State, has had problems since she led a campaign against the WFI's former president, Brij Bushan Sharan Singh, who continues to be accused of sexual harassment. 

Weight Category Dispute

Vinesh was permitted to compete in the Asian Games selection trials, upon the Supreme Court of India granting approval. The Olympian was in the 53 kg weight category, however, selection trials turned to a controversy as WFI forbade Vinesh from competing in her favourite weight category. 

The challenges were tossed in at arbitrary intervals and it was also seen multiple moments of technical failure on the screen, one of the two bouts she fought also ran into controversy. Goyat defeated her in the third bout with a score of 6-4 and her hopes of competing in the Asian Games had been dashed. 

Vinesh Alleges Bias During Competition

Vinesh said that she did her best. She also alleged biasness and said, “I did well, I did the best I could I think I’ll work harder.”

“The entire system is standing on one side, and we are all standing on the other side, but we can proudly say that we are standing tall against them and will continue to fight.” 

“Obviously, there was biasness. I want to train so hard that even those who are cheating will be left behind. I want to improve to such an extent that, despite their cheating, they will not be able to defeat me. I will continue to work hard, train even harder, and perform even better,” she said.

Asian Games Dream Ends After Loss

Vinesh's route to semifinals was not easy as she led Jyoti 7-1 in her first match and then defeated Nishu 7-6, in a cutthroat quarterfinal match where she just pushed her way in the final four. She finally fell against Meenakshi who had a brutal battle against Vinesh and left 6-4. The defeat has killed the dream of a comeback in wrestling for the wrestler as she is unable to make a reservation for her ticket to Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, for the Asian Games this year. 

According to sources, BJP workers raised "chor chor" slogans against the leader and Banerjee was escorted by security persons with a helmet on. 

Banerjee Visits Families Of Slain Leaders

Banerjee had reached to meet the family members of a slain TMC leader Sanju Karmakar who, as per TMC, was attacked post the assembly election results, and further members in other areas like Sonarpur South, Beleghata for similar reasons. 

This visit comes 26 days after the TMC's loss in the assembly elections in West Bengal. After receiving injuries during the visit, Banerjee was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata and was taken to treatment, when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also visited the hospital to meet the leader.

Abhishek Says Attack Was Caught On Camera

TMC had alleged Banerjee was beaten up and stones pelted at by the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Visuals from the incident also showed security personnel with Banerjee surrounded all around, due to increasing tension. 

Abhishek said, "They threw a brick, threw an egg, and pelted stones. Please tell me what this is. And all the people standing nearby, the people of the area, they are still meeting us and still greeting us with love and respect. Go and ask those who are doing hooliganism here. We have all the video evidence. There's a community hall nearby. From 11 am onwards, goons were kept in that community hall to pelt stones," about the attack.

Banerjee Vows Legal Action Over Assault

Banerjee had later allegedly mentioned that the attackers wanted to kill him and the whole incident was recorded on camera. 

“They wanted to kill me. The whole incident has been captured on camera. We will definitely let the High Court know about this. We will also let the Governor know about this. I will definitely move to court," he said.

He added, "My head was somehow spared; fortunately, I was wearing a helmet. They have torn my clothes and broken my spectacles.”

O’Brien Raises Questions on Security

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’ Brien allegedly stated that Banerjee’s life was in danger, raising questions of the leader’s safety arrangements.

O'Brien said, "The Lok Sabha Leader of the second-largest Opposition party, All India Trinamool Congress, went to visit the family of a person murdered by BJP in post-poll violence. Abhishek Banerjee was lynched and attacked by a few BJP supporters. Life at risk. Where are the police? Why was security withdrawn on the day of counting? Let the Home Minister answer," on social media platform X.

Gill Hits Century in Big Chase

Gill, who captains the team, played a spectacular innings, hitting 104 runs off just 53 balls, which included 15 fours and three sixes, all while chasing a huge target of 215. Notably, he became the first captain to score a century in the IPL playoffs.

Joining him in a remarkable opening partnership was Sai Sudharsan, who contributed a solid 58 runs off 32 balls. Together, they forged an impressive 167-run partnership, setting the stage for the Titans' success. Washington Sundar added to the excitement with a quick cameo, while Rahul Tewatia's strong finish ensured the Titans crossed the finish line with eight balls to spare. This marks the third time the Gujarat Titans have reached the IPL final since the franchise was established in 2022, highlighting their consistent performance over the years.

Sooryavanshi Breaks Major IPL Record

Earlier in the match, the Rajasthan Royals posted a commendable score of 214/6. The spotlight was on the young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 96 runs off just 47 balls. His incredible performance made him the fastest player to reach 1,000 IPL runs, achieving this milestone in only 440 balls and breaking Andre Russell's previous record of 545 balls. He also made history by becoming the first player to score 500 runs in the Powerplay during a single IPL season.

After the early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, Sooryavanshi rebuilt the innings brilliantly alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who finished unbeaten at 45. Donovan Ferreira then provided a thrilling late surge, hitting four sixes off Rashid Khan in the final over, finishing with an impressive 38 runs off just 11 balls.

Shubman Gill Praises Batting Performance 

Gujarat Titans Skipper Shubman Gill said, “There was some confusion there (On the Toss Fiasco), but happy to get a win. I think we complement each other very well ( On Partnership with Sai Sudharsan). We understand each other's game very well. And when we are batting out there, our communication is very good. We know one of us has to take down one of the bowlers. And I think we are very good in deciding who's going to take down what bowler,” regarding the match.

“I'm very fortunate, you know, we got a target of 220. At one point it looked like we were gonna restrict them around 180-190, but we got a total and once we got off to a start, we spoke about, I actually wanted to finish the game, quite sad how I got out,” he added.

The cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 and transferring the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by itself, according to the NTA, conveyed the seriousness with which examination sanctity is looked upon by itself as well as by the Union government.

Court Demands Responsibility In NEET

The court said that accountability needs to be fixed for such catastrophic fiascos that take place on the lives of lakhs of students.

“The real problem will not stop till there is actual accountability. Not in terms of so and so will be liable, it will be effective when we know which individual shoulders the responsibility. Unless you identify the specific duty-bearers, it will be difficult,” Justice Narasimha added.

Strict Security Measures For NEET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) told the Supreme Court that it had instituted wide structural and security reforms following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scam and cancellation of the examination.

A High-Powered Steering Committee (HPSC), in a meeting dated 17th April 2026, has analysed the preparation of NEET-UG 2026 and recommended an array of safeguards under various pre-examination, examination and post-examination phases.

CCTV Monitoring For NEET Centres

These measures include: compulsory CCTV checks and retention of footage for a minimum of 90 days, mock drills to be carried out in examination centers, weather contingency plans, checks on power backup systems, provision of emergency medical facilities, strict physical verification of centers a week prior to examination. Further, the HPSC suggested, there should be post-examination forensic examination of CCTVs to identify malicious activity.

Secure Transport Plan For Papers

Question paper trunks would be sent through India Post with chain-of-custody protocols. Question papers from the press would be transported to nodal hubs with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), then to district custodians via India Post and further to examination centers with the District Police.

Further the affidavit has added that Confidential Operations (CONOPs) have been operationalized. Question paper setters will work in isolated rooms free from Internet/mobile access and a separate chamber will be dedicated for confidential work in the office.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss in Mullanpur, however it was only a re-spin. It was Shubman Gill who was the tipper, but Riyan Parag’s call did not carry enough noise for the match referee Prakash Bhatt, leaving everyone in shock. Ravi Shastri suddenly declared that the toss would be carried out again. The toss occurred this time around and RR went in to bat first.

Gill seemed a little frustrated by what had happened at the toss, saying he either would have elected to bat, too, and that it was unfortunate that the match referee couldn’t hear the call. On the first occasion, once the toss was taken off, it fell on tails (for GT) after Riyan called heads. 

Rajasthan Royals did not get a good start with a pair of quick wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, but Ravindra Jadeja drew on all his experience to counterattack with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In the nick of time the innings settled, Jadeja had to retire hurt, sending the Royals into a collapse between 101/2 and 118/5. 

Vaibhav hit a stunning 96 off 47 balls — as he kept attacking the bowlers. Jadeja came back to provide much-needed stability with some important contributions afterwards. Donovan Ferreira's devastating 38 off just 11 deliveries gave the Royals a late push that may be needed to bring some change. 

Gujarat Titans will regret the repeat of failure to realize in their crucial moments. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada hit early in the Powerplay, and the shorter ball plan against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi appeared effective enough at first. Titans also held off well into the middle overs, with Jason Holder’s 2/27 topping the charge. But Sai Sudharsan’s late, failed catch on 46 proved costly as Sooryavanshi paid for it with a stunning knock prior to Rabada finally taking him out on 96. Rashid Khan had the last leg of the game left with Shubman Gill's trust, but the spinner conceded 27 runs — giving Titans the huge chase with a whole different ball game. 

RR arrived for this match with a strong 47-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator on May 27 at the same venue. GT, in contrast, will be trying to bounce back from a devastating 92-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 on May 26. The Qualifier 2 winner will move into the IPL 2026 final against RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31 as scheduled.

Dowry Death And Cruelty Charges Filed

CBI investigators visited Giribala Singh’s house on Thursday at about 10:30 AM and interrogated her for hours before arresting her around 5:10 PM. 

Serious allegations against her are based on Section 80(2) (Dowry death), Section 85 (Cruelty by husband or relatives of the husband to a woman), Section 3(5) (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), besides Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. 

High Court Cancels Anticipatory Bail Relief

Her arrest comes after MP High Court canceled her anticipatory bail application and set aside the relief granted to her on 15 May, by the 10th Additional Sessions Judge, Bhopal. 

Advocate General of Madhya Pradesh Prashant Singh said, “The High Court has taken serious note of certain observations in the case, like seven antemortem injuries on the body of Twisha Sharma, indicating towards a serious crime, non-cooperation by Giribala Singh despite several notices and WhatsApp chats indicating mental harassment of Twisha Sharma. Looking at all this, the High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail of Giribala Singh. Now, it is up to the CBI to decide whether or not a custodial interrogation needs to be done." 

HC Raises Concerns over Evidence Tampering

The HC had noticed that statements of parents of Twisha and her other relatives are saying that from the first day of investigation it was Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh who were harassing Twisha. The HC is deeply concerned about this statement which says Giribala Singh, a retired judicial officer well versed in cyber crime, cyber forensic and crime scene management, has used her judicial training to manipulate the evidence to control investigation. 

Earlier on Wednesday, a court in Bhopal sent Twisha Sharma’s husband Samarth Singh to CBI custody. Samarth was then taken to Giribala Singh's house in Katara Hills by a CBI team to have more insights for investigations.

CBI Takes Over Twisha Sharma Death Probe

On Monday, CBI assumed the lead in the investigation launched into the death of the former model-actor Twisha Sharma. On May 12, she was discovered hanging at her matrimonial house in Bhopal. The agency subsequently re-registered the FIR, which was previously filed by Madhya Pradesh Police, against Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh. 

Sooryavanshi was at the door to making history by scoring 97 from 29 deliveries, a sum that could have meant he scored the fastest century of all time in IPL. It was one of the deadliest knocks in IPL playoff history. 

Sooryavanshi Breaks Gayle’s Six-Hitting Record

The left-handed opener was sensational with his 97 off only 29 deliveries, where he hit 12 sixes and 5 fours on a magnificent strike rate of over 334, a knock that took RR to a total of 243/8 in 20 overs. While he narrowly missed a ton, Vaibhav became the first batsman to hit a record number of sixes in a single IPL season (Chris Gayle had 59 in 2012), when he rose as IPL 2026’s breakout figure. 

Sooryavanshi narrowly missed another record, this time with the fastest century in IPL. Chris Gayle still held the record of hitting his ton in 30 balls, but the 15-year-old fell short on 97 off 29 deliveries. 

Chris Gayle Applauds Vaibhav’s Innings

The wicket received many responses from the cricket fraternity as many thought he was about to pen yet another chapter in IPL history, only to get out at the last minute. Gayle himself did post an acknowledgment of Vaibhav’s record-breaking performance and congratulated the RR youngster after a knock took his team to the playoffs. 

“What a phenomenal player Vaibhav is. Great entertainment young man! New Six machine," Gayle said on social media platform X.

Rayudu Predicts First T20 Double Century

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu praised the teen and mentioned that Vaibhav could be the first player in T20 history to score 200 runs in an innings. 

He said, "I think a 200 is around the corner. If he keeps going this way, we'll see a 200 very soon. He has not premeditated a single ball except for one ball where he tried to reverse sweep in one of those games earlier. Other than that, he just seems to watch the ball and react to it. His talent is so good that he can react to any ball the way he has been reacting. He's hitting everything for a six,” on ESPNCricinfo.

Vaibhav debuted in IPL last year and immediately drew headlines with a 35-ball century on the big stage. But, this season the 15-year-old has become a hero in the IPL. Now he is at the top of the Orange Cap standings with 680 runs in 15 matches at an average of 45.33 with a jaw-dropping strike rate of 242.85.

The star of the match was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made a sensational impact after arriving early to the game. His explosive innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls completely dismantled the Sunrisers' bowling attack and set the stage for the Royals' success. Dhruv Jurel also played a crucial role in maintaining the team's momentum from the middle order. However, the Royals stumbled after Jurel's departure, finishing their innings at 243 for 8.

Hyderabad Top Order Fails

In response, Hyderabad had a daunting target of 244 runs but were bowled out for 196 in just 19.2 overs, despite some spirited performances in the middle order. Abhishek Sharma's early dismissal for a duck was a significant blow to their chances. Court Orders Document Disclosure

The Singapore court ordered Raveendran to present himself before the authorities, pay S$90,000 for legal expenses and produce documents proving he owns Beeaar Investco Pte, a company that held stakes in a related firm, reported Bloomberg.

The verdict is the first significant legal setback for the founder of Byju's, which was once India's most valued startup and is grappling with investor disputes, debt litigation and operational problems amid an ongoing post-pandemic decline.

Byju's Founder Denies Any Wrongdoing Claims

Raveendran said in a statement after the ruling that settlement talks with lenders and investors like GLAS Trust and QIA were close to conclusion and termed the legal action an unnecessary escalation.

“The lenders, including GLAS Trust and QIA, as well as other stakeholders, have been in discussions with the founders and other parties. A settlement has been agreed in principle, with only a few residual minor issues left to be finalised between certain parties. I have no role in those remaining issues,” he said.

“As part of the settlement discussions, the parties have also acknowledged that there has been no wrongdoing on my part or on the part of the other founders. That is why it is deeply unfortunate that this matter is being used to create a contrary public narrative at this sensitive stage,” he added.

Raveendran Targets Lenders On Hiding Information

This decision comes months after a Delaware court in December 2025 overturned its prior $1 billion judgment against Raveendran, following the review of fresh submissions filed by a motion seeking correction of a November 20 ruling. The court noted damages had not been properly assessed and ordered fresh proceedings.

Raveendran's team argued that GLAS Trust and lenders had concealed or misrepresented critical information during the legal proceedings, which contributed to the collapse of the edtech business and erosion of enterprise value.

Byju's, founded in 2011 as Think & Learn Pvt Ltd, started as an online learning platform for school education and exam preparation and became immensely popular during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company acquired firms like Aakash Educational Services, Great Learning and Epic to expand its presence. It became the face of India's startup boom, attracting billions from global investors. The company's aggressive growth was fueled by spending and debt rather than profitability. 

ED Officials Attacked During Exit

According to images flashed on the television channels, alleged CPI(M) activists reached Mr. Vijayan's rental home and began to protest the raid. Things turned nasty when some activists blocked the vehicle carrying the ED officials and then pelted stones at it.

It was very difficult for police and central security personnel to contain the huge number of protestors. Women ED officials were in the vehicle when it was attacked by a large mob. The wind shield of the vehicle was smashed in the stone pelting.

Pinarayi Vijayan Calls Raid 'Targeted'

The Opposition Leader of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan termed the searches conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at his residence here as a "targeted crackdown" against leaders of the opposition parties.

He also claimed that it would be a 'mental satisfaction' for some like Rahul Gandhi whose residences are not raided nor who is arrested, for his frequent queries regarding why his home was not searched or why he was not arrested, the Opposition Leader added.

"Some people like (Congress leader) Rahul Gandhi would be happy, as the narrative by him was why Pinarayi Vijayan is not being arrested," he said.

Pinarayi Slams BJP Over ED Action

The CPI(M) leader told reporters after completion of the hours-long searches at his rented house in Bakery Junction over the alleged CMRL monthly payment case that this raid will not weaken him or the CPI(M).

The senior leader also alleged that central agencies have been used against opposition leaders since the BJP-led central government came to power, stating that it was also the same modus operandi applied this time.

“The BJP government has always targeted political adversaries. The Congress also took the stand that if not their leaders, then there is no issue. But we are not going to be cowed down," he added.

ED Probes Veena Vijayan CMRL Case

The central agency’s actions were initiated following a dismissal by the High Court to quash the ED's procedures and cancellation of the summons issued by the agency. The complaint made by the ED was that Rs 1.72 crore from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) were collected over time by an IT firm called Exalogic, which is owned by the daughter of former CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Veena T. 

It was not used to provide IT services that were never provided, but instead to settle the loans given to Veena's firm. The case registered by ED in 2024, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), will investigate these charges.

UAE Launches Probe Into Attack

The UAE did not directly blame any particular country, nor has any particular group taken responsibility for the attack. Investigation to find out the origin of drones is ongoing. The Defence Ministry said that two drones were intercepted and another struck an electrical generator near the nuclear power plant, the ministry added it was from the 'western border' without further explanation of where this was. According to Abu Dhabi Media Office the electrical generator was located outside the nuclear power plant's protected inner area.

IAEA Reports Safe Radiation Levels

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed the drone hit the facility with one of its reactors switching over to emergency generators.

"Military activity that threatens nuclear safety is unacceptable. The IAEA has been informed by the UAE that radiation levels at the Barakah NPP (nuclear power plant) remain normal and no injuries were reported," the agency said.

Barakah Is Arab World’s First Plant

Built by the UAE with the aid of South Korea at $20 billion, the Barakah nuclear power plant went live in 2020 and is the first and only nuclear power plant on the Arabian peninsula. The nuclear power plant can supply electricity for up to a quarter of the UAE's energy demands. 

It is the first commercial nuclear power plant within the Arab world and is located 200km to the west of the capital Abu Dhabi near the borders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

This latest drone strike occurred while negotiations continue to try and broker a lasting peace in Iran, with America urging Iran to roll back its nuclear program and ease pressure on shipping lanes around the Strait of Hormuz and Iran calling for reparations for damage from war and an end to pressure from America's ports. US president Donald Trump has declared further military action a distinct possibility should the war continue on its current trajectory.

UAE Faces Repeated Drone Attacks

Since joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran occurred on Feb 28, Iran has made repeated strikes targeting the UAE and other countries bordering the Persian Gulf which host US bases, causing casualties among civilians and on energy infrastructure. 

Targets hit on the UAE, which intensified throughout this month, came following the launch of the US naval initiative to secure the Strait of Hormuz, which only lasted for 48 hours before being called off by President Trump.

The 31 article decree, called 'Principles of Separation Between Spouses' has been passed by the Taliban supremo Hibatullah Akhundzada and has recently been printed in the regime's official gazette. The decree covers issues such as child marriage, the whereabouts of an absent husband, adultery, apostasy and forced separation. 

Silence Treated As Consent For Marriage

One of the more contentious points states that a 'virgin girl' who remains silent after reaching puberty could have her consent presumed for the marriage. However, for a boy or for a married woman this is not automatically assumed to be the case. Rights campaigners have condemned the new law. Political Commentator Fahima Mahomed explained that consent cannot exist in child marriage. This idea that silence constitutes agreement, basically silences girls altogether and takes away their right to agency. 

Child Marriage Annulment Needs Court Approval

The ruling refers to the Islamic concept of Khiyar al-bulugh or 'option upon puberty' which allows individuals married as children to annul their marriages when they reach adulthood. Under article 5, Marriages made with minors, if by someone other than a father or grandfather, are valid, provided they are suitable to society and of proper dowry. However, an annulment cannot take place without an order of a Taliban court. An invalid marriage was also said to include that of an 'incompatible' person, and marriage made for an improper dowry. 

Fathers and Taliban Judges Gain Authority

The role of fathers and grandfathers in arranging child marriages was significant, however these were able to be declared invalid if a guardian was found abusive or morally corrupt. Taliban judges were also able to step in where an allegation of adultery had occurred, or a change of religion had occurred and where the husband of the marriage had gone missing for a protracted length of time. 

Global Concern Over Taliban Women Policies

The ruling has been passed at a time when the Taliban are receiving increasing international condemnation over their stance on women's rights following their takeover in August 2021, including bans on girls attending secondary schools and universities, restricted work opportunities and a serious decline in public visibility.

CNG will be sold at Rs 80.09 per kg in Delhi, Rs 88.70 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.The revision of Rs 1 per kg came just two days after the CNG price rose by Rs 2 per kg on May 15, bringing the overall CNG price up to Rs 3 per kg in 48 hours.

IGL Cites Higher Gas Input Costs

The fuel price increase has been initiated by major natural gas distributor Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to marginally offset the rise in input gas cost along with steep appreciation of the US dollar.

“The retail selling price of CNG has been increased by Rs 1/kg wef 6 am on 17.05.2026 in all GAs of IGL. The revision in retail prices of CNG has been effected only to marginally offset the impact of increase in input gas cost along with steep appreciation of USD. Even after revision, CNG would still offer upto 45% savings towards the running cost when compared to vehicles running on alternate fuel at the current level of prices," the IGL said.

Petrol, Diesel Prices Jump by Rs 3/litre

The increase came just two days after the hike in petrol and diesel prices was announced by government-owned oil companies across the country on May 15. Petrol and diesel rates were increased by Rs 3 per litre on May 15, first in over four years, with state-run fuel retailers starting to pass on some of the losses arising out of volatile international crude oil prices amid the raging US-Iran war.

US-Iran Conflict Impacts Crude Oil Supply

Global crude oil rates have shot up over 50 per cent since US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28 and Tehran's retaliatory attacks disturbed energy supplies flowing through Strait of Hormuz. Despite sharp increases in the international crude oil prices retail fuel rates in India remained stagnant for weeks as the government tried to protect the consumers from immediate rise in energy costs. 

However, the opposition parties alleged that the centre delayed fuel price revision till the completion of state assembly elections in the few key states. The increase was effected on a day after completion of the Assembly elections in five states of India where BJP strengthened its position by clinching three states, including West Bengal.

Centre Urges People to Conserve Fuel

The government also announced various measures to conserve fuel. PM Narendra Modi had recently asked people to reduce travel, promote work-from-home and conserve fuel on account of the high energy prices impacting current account deficit and foreign exchange reserves of the country. Few states also announced directives for reducing travel and holding meetings in a physical form.

Bandi Sanjay Says Law Equal For All

Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said everybody is equal before the law, whether it was his son or any common man and everybody should obey law. Kumar said his son repeatedly assured he committed no wrong and that they had thought of handing over him immediately to the police as the complaint was lodged. They consulted lawyers with available evidence and lawyers felt that the case would be dismissed and bail would be granted at any cost. Due to that delay it was prolonged.

He added that even now lawyers feel that bail would be granted. So he himself decided not to wait and handed over his son to the police personally with help of lawyers for the sake of investigation.

Telangana HC Refuses Interim Protection

Police had issued a look-out notice against Bhageerath by registering a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The Telangana High court refused to grant him interim protection from arrest in an interim anticipatory bail petition late on Friday night observing that it was not inclined to pass any interim order in the case at this stage. Bhageerath's counsel asked the court to provide him interim protection till the order was granted on his application.

Minor Girl’s Family Files Serious Charges

The police registered the case on May 8 on the complaint filed by the mother of a 17-year-old girl on the charge that Bhageerath was in a relationship with her daughter and had sexually harassed her under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act. The complainant said that the relationship with the minor started in June 2025 with the mutual acquaintance between them through Instagram and Snapchat.

The mother alleged that Bhageerath tricked the minor into trust by assuring to marry her once she attains majority and exerted emotional pressure over her and police, after recording the statement of the minor, applied severer sections under POCSO Act. 

Bhageerath Alleges Extortion And False Case

Bhageerath filed a counter complaint. He stated that the girl who got acquainted with him, invited him to family functions and group get-togethers. The police registered his FIR too. He said that he accompanied her family and friends to some holy places believing the family, which can be trusted. He said that then they insisted him to marry the girl and on refusal the parents of the girl demanded money by threatening to register a false complaint. 

Bhageerath alleged that he paid Rs 50,000 to the father out of fear and then parents demanded Rs 5 crore by threatening to commit suicide by the mother.

Naidu Announces New Population Incentives

In an event held at Narsannapeta in Srikakulam district on Saturday, Naidu addressed the public and said that it was a cabinet decision and announcement for details to be made within a month's time.

"I have thought about this many times. In the past, I worked towards family planning. But today, once again, children are our wealth, and a need has arisen for all of us to work for the sake of our children, that is why I have taken another decision, and I am coming to you this month with it. For the third child, we will give Rs 30,000 immediately upon birth. For the fourth child, we will give Rs 40,000," he said.

Govt Earlier Approved Second Child Aid

The current decision comes in addition to the incentive of R 25,000 offered for the birth of a second child. On March 5, Naidu informed the Assembly that the government was considering giving R 25,000 incentive for the birth of a second child.

Andhra Pradesh TFR Falls Below 2.1

Naidu cited a growing socio-economic trend in which families tend to go for fewer children in increasing income range and for having two children with the condition that one is not a boy. He warned against these factors that might affect state's long term population dynamics and the need to attain the total fertility rate (TFR) of 2.1 which denotes replacement level.

According to SRS 2020 data of Sample Registration System, Andhra Pradesh’s TFR has been recorded as 1.5, much lower than replacement level (2.1) and even the national TFR (2.0). TFR in urban areas is as low as 1.4 which indicates continued declining population growth in future.

Anganwadi Centres To Support Mothers

Naidu mentioned that whereas his government was always ahead in implementing family planning measures, the current situation calls to make people realize that children are wealthy. He informed that by the strengthening of Anganwadi centres through the Department of Women and Child Welfare, adequate food will be supplied to mother and child. He also informed that R 15,000 cash is being provided as 'Talli ki Vandanam' (Salute to the mother).

Rahul Gandhi said, “Twenty-two lakh NEET kids have been cheated. Yet Modi ji isn't uttering a single word. Remove Dharmendra Pradhan ji right now, or take responsibility yourself.”

"Dharmendra Pradhan ji, India's Education Minister, says, 'I have nothing to do with it.' The committee had made recommendations, which he threw into the dustbin. He said, 'Opposition people are sitting in the committee, it doesn't mean anything, there is no need for it.' The truth is that you have damaged the core, the center of India. The Prime Minister should give an immediate order that Dharmendra Pradhan ji should resign, he should be sacked, and the people who are guilty should be caught and put in jail," he added.

Sikar Flat Linked to NEET Scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) investigation has put Rajasthan's Sikar district under close scanner regarding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The probe agency has apprehended three individuals in this connection. According to official sources, the accused were suspected of procuring a 'guess' paper, which was almost similar to the NEET paper and making its copies and providing it to the coaching centres which then distribute the question papers among candidates. 

Officials further traced a flat in Sikar which is suspected of being used as a center of coordination where the distribution of papers were conducted and candidates were communicated to. 

Pune Teacher Arrested After Probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a kingpin from Maharashtra over the Biology questions in the NEET-UG 2026 test. The Kingpin, identified as Manisha Gurunath Mandhare, a botany teacher at Pune, was employed as an expert by the National Testing Agency.

The agency stated that the accused made recruitment of candidates who would have given the NEET examinations with the assistance of Manisha Wagmare.

NTA Cancels Disputed NEET-UG 2026 Exam

The National testing agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 test that was conducted on May 3 after the discovery of evidence pointing out similarities in the question papers conducted that day with those which was already circulated on the prior date.

After investigating the issue, the examination results were postponed, and the entire process was transferred to the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI). The rescheduled test is expected to be held on June 21.

The Botany teacher from Maharashtra was arrested in Delhi after being questioned for many hours by the CBI. She was granted access to both Botany and Zoology question papers in her capacity as an expert associated with the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Manisha Accused of Sharing NEET Questions

According to sources, the accused Manisha Mandhare was associated with the Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, located in Shivajinagar, Pune. Sources claimed that Mandhare had been contributing to the preparation of NEET question papers for the past five to six years. 

Mandhare was involved in preparing Botany and Zoology sections of NEET UG 2026 examination and was at that time in the service of the aforementioned Pune college. The allegation is that the investigation system enabled her to gain unrestricted access to the questions during the examination.

Mandhare Conducted Classes at Her Residence

The CBI claimed that she gathered students for the NEET entrance examination through Manisha Wagmare of Pune, who had already been taken into custody in May on the 14th. According to the CBI, Manisha conducted special coaching for students in her home where she leaked some Botany and Zoology questions and asked the students to copy them in their notebooks and textbooks.

They added that the majority of those questions appeared in the NEET-UG 2026 conducted on May 3 (now cancelled) and also that those had matches with the original question paper.

Nine Accused Arrested After Probe

The investigation is spreading over many states. Six locations were searched and laptop, mobile phones, bank details and various documents seized in the past 24 hours and their digital and financial analysis is on. Thus far nine persons are under arrest in different places like Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune and Ahilyanagar. Many accused have been remanded to police custody.

Addressing the Indian community in The Hague, Netherlands, the PM said that India’s democracy is getting stronger day-by-day and development work is enabling large participation in voting.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, said that it was very special that Indians living in the Netherlands showering their love and warmth upon PM Modi during his visit.

"PM Narendra Modi received a heartwarming welcome from the Indian community in the Netherlands upon his arrival yesterday. The warmth, energy and affection of the diaspora were truly special," he said on social media platform X.

Ties Expand In Technology And Defence

Both the countries' partnership has deepened in recent years beyond its traditional elements like trade and investment, and priority areas like water, agriculture, and health. MEA stated that the two nations' engagement now includes areas such as technology, defense, security, semiconductors, renewable energy, education and the maritime sector.

Kulkarni Linked to NEET Paper Setting

PV Kulkarni was an integral part of the examination process of the NTA (which organized the examination) and thus, had the answers and questions of the entrance test which was conducted on May 3rd. 

He was one of the main setters of the NEET question paper over many years. The former college professor was apprehended by the central agency on the evening of Thursday, May 14th. 

Kulkarni Held NEET Coaching Sessions

Investigations showed that Kulkarni, aided by another accused Manisha Waghmare, organized coaching classes for students who paid to get the NEET examination questions in the last week of April. Waghmare was arrested by the central agency on Thursday, May 14th as well. The students used to attend private training sessions at this Pune home. 

In these exclusive lessons Kulkarni wrote down the questions, the given answer choices, and the correct answers in their notebooks, and the written questions exactly matched the official question paper set on May 3rd. 

Eight Accused Arrested in Leak Case

Currently, 7 suspects have been arrested from Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, and Ahilyanagar in connection to the case. The latest arrest means that 8 persons have been taken into custody to date.

The first seven arrested had been brought before court, and were remanded for seven days into police custody, so the authorities can obtain further details about the paper leak. Those arrested on Thursday are to be presented before a Pune court, and will eventually be brought to Delhi for more proceedings, so that the transit remand can be procured. 

NEET Re-Exam To Be Conducted in June

The undergraduate admissions test which was conducted on May 3rd, was cancelled on the 12th, due to allegations of a question paper leak, the Center has since handed the case over to the CBI for further investigations. The NEET UG 2026 will be re-conducted on June 21st between 2PM to 5:15PM.

Adhikari Cites Probe Mishandling Allegations

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari made this announcement from the state secretariat and stated that, on the grounds of a departmental inquiry instituted against them, former Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal and former deputy commissioners Indira Mukherjee and Abhishek Gupta had been dismissed.

He asserted that the three officers were responsible for the 'mishandling' of the RG Kar case, which included allegations of bribery to the parents as a bribe and an 'unauthorized press conference' with reference to the August 2024 incident. 

"The Bengal government suspended three police officers for ‘lapses’ in the investigation of the RG Kar rape-murder case. The government will start a departmental probe against ex-Kolkata CP Vineet Goyal, two other officers", said Adhikari.

Inquiry Ordered Under Home Secretary

Adhikari clarified that the government was not interfering with the actual criminal investigation and that it was under judicial investigation and the purview of the Central Bureau of Investigation. The Chief Minister asserted that disciplinary procedures would be held by the state's home secretary under the supervision of the chief secretary. 

Victim’s Mother Seeks Arrest of Three Accused

The Sealdah court received on Wednesday, on a petition filed by her, from the mother of the victim of the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder (who is now an MLA), assisted by her husband for the arrest of former Panihati MLA Nirmal Ghosh, Somnath Das and Trinamool Congress activist Sanjib Mukhopadhyay, alleging that the three were the perpetrators of evidence destruction in the rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor and that it was essential for the investigation that they be arrested. 

RG Kar Doctor Found Murdered in Hospital

The postgraduate student at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was raped and murdered at her workplace on August 9, 2024. On Friday morning (August 9), her body was discovered inside a seminar room of the state-run hospital's chest department, bearing extensive injury marks and the preliminary report of autopsy confirming violent sexual assault.

The Sealdah court at Kolkata had convicted former civic volunteer Sanjay Roy of rape and murder in RG Kar case, but he still claimed that he was being framed. 

According to the communication, all the students will be singing the national song at the beginning of each day. All heads of institutions have been directed to strictly follow it.

CM Congratulates Students After Exam Results

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister while addressing students and the gathering after the announcement of the results of Class 12 examinations and it is expected to take place from Monday. He also congratulated all the students who have qualified themselves in the Higher Secondary examinations and said they must march ahead in life with the confidence and principles drawn from Indian thinkers.

“I want to congratulate all those who have passed class 12 exams. They should all move ahead in life inspired by the vision of Swami Vivekananda. I would like to send my best wishes to the future generation. From Monday, all schools should sing Vande Mataram. I shall reach secretariat and issue an order,” Adhikari said.

Schools To Record Assemblies For Monitoring

As per the communication released on May 13, the Director of Education informed the school heads that they must sing the national anthem in the beginning of the day, before classes begin. A few officers in the department also revealed that the schools will also have to record the meetings they held to showcase their correct implementation.

Centre Pushes Stronger Respect For National Symbols

This step is being taken in view of the Union Government's move to intensify and strengthen all the provisions relating to respects for national symbols which has also prompted the latter to amend the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 to include punishment for anyone obstructing the singing of Vande Mataram.

The final decision to be made as the result of the lengthy discussion over the last few days came at noon Thursday where a press conference was convened by Congress leaders Ajay Maken and Deepa Dasmunshi where the formal announcement was made to the public.

Three names in particular: KC Venugopal, V D Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala were speculated for the CM post.

Satheesan Stresses Teamwork and Unity

VD Satheesan, who has been chosen by the party as the next Kerala CM said it was a team responsibility rather than a personal one and thanked his peers KC Venugopal and the rest of the leaders who are involved in the decision making process of the Kerala CM race and said the team's hard work was to achieve the goal that was set out by the public.

"I do not see this position as a personal achievement, but as something divine. It was KC Venugopal who coordinated all the activities of the AICC. His support was immense. Ramesh Chennithala is also my leader. I will take all of them into complete confidence. I seek the support of every section of people in Keralam. Only a collective effort can build a new Keralam. No one can do it alone; a team can achieve it," Satheesan said.

KC Venugopal Welcomes Congress Decision

KC Venugopal appreciated the decision taken by the Congress party president to appoint VD Satheesan as the Kerala CM, thanked the members, functionaries and MLAS for their support. He also claimed that the decision to appoint VD Satheesan as the new Kerala CM was an outcome of exhaustive discussion and consideration at every level in the Congress.

Venugopal said, "The final decision has come, and the Congress high command decided VD Satheesan as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Keralam Government. I am welcoming that decision wholeheartedly. I am congratulating VD Satheesan on this position. I think that people of Keralam have given a big verdict for the UDF. The government and the leadership of VD Satheesan can fulfil the aspirations and promises of the people of Keralam. Certainly, we are totally behind the government of Keralam.”

Rahul, Kharge Held Final Discussions

The UDF coalition, which is headed by the Congress, had gained over two-thirds of the seats but couldn't announce its candidate as its chief minister owing to worker's protests in the ground level due to the existence of lobby groups and individual campaigns throughout the state. The leader appointed on Thursday has been accepted by all members of the Congress party although it is after a great deal of effort from the Congress leadership at various stages.

The declaration came a day after former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was in conversation with the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for roughly 40 minutes where later confirmed that all discussions at the high command were complete and final. 

His statements came in the wake of severe condemnation from the opposition parties toward the BJP government as NTA cancelled NEET-UG exam following the leak allegations.

Kejriwal Attacks Centre over NEET Row

During the press conference the AAP supremo stated that the faith of the exam aspirants was broken due to the series of paper leaks, asking whether stringent action has ever been taken against the culprits for past leak cases investigated by the CBI.

“If Gen Z in countries like Bangladesh and Nepal could change the government, then Indian youth could also ensure accountability in cases of paper leaks,” he said.

Kejriwal Questions Effectiveness of CBI Probe

In his response over the past CBI investigation in the paper leak cases the leader also doubted whether those responsible have been subjected to a severe punishment or not and he also alleges that the probe in the case of NEET paper leak by CBI would be "fruitless" as the same has happened in other cases too.

Citing multiple paper leak cases since 2014, Kejriwal stated that crores of student's lives were destroyed because of this, and most of the cases occurred in BJP ruled states.

NEET Paper Leak Through Guess Paper

On Tuesday the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET-UG test conducted on May 3, with reports of questions worth about 600 marks were allegedly leaked prior to the conduct. Investigators have revealed a widespread, countrywide network of coach centres, hostellers, impersonators, and solvers. 

The actual question paper was purportedly used to set a 410-question "guess paper" with around 120 actual NEET questions incorporated, which was widely disseminated through coaching centres, hostels and paid WhatsApp groups. The CBI is now investigating the matter.

SPG Asked to Increase Use of EVs

The Prime Minister has also asked the Special Protection Group (SPG) to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in his convoys but not by buying any new cars. According to recent reports, the SPG has started following this directive and has kept intact the mandatory safety protocols outlined in the 'Blue Book'.

Yogi Adityanath Follows PM’s Austerity Call

During a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, he reportedly asked his ministers that they must be thrifty and cut down spending of resources consciously due to the West Asia crisis.

Sources said the Prime Minister had appealed to the ministers to cut down the number of vehicles accompanying them as well as their trips abroad and some ministers did respond to the appeal.

Following in the footsteps of the Prime Minister, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also asked for the fleet of vehicles in his entourage as well as ministers to be cut by 50 percent immediately.

BJP-led States Begin Cost-Cutting Measures

The cost-cutting drive is being followed by the BJP-led states. Ministers like Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav are among others who have also decided to cut down the number of vehicles used in their convoys.

The trend is seen to be a step towards fuel conservation and administrative austerity following a recent appeal made by the Prime Minister for the people to minimise unnecessary travel and national spending.

Modi Appeals to Save Fuel and Forex Reserves

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked the people on Sunday to participate collectively to navigate global economic challenges and supply chain problems, inflation among other things.

Modi also appealed to the people not to buy gold for one year, so that they do not put pressure on foreign exchange out flows, and advised them not to travel abroad.

He said that maintaining forex reserves was a part of patriotism, and appealed to people not to plan foreign holidays and international weddings and instead promote tourism within the country. 

Prateek Yadav Died After Sudden Illness

Prateek, 38, suddenly fell sick in the morning, was admitted to civil hospital early hours but died there itself, the sources said. Although he belonged to a renowned political family, Prateek has stayed out of active politics.

"The demise of Shri Pratik Yadav Ji is extremely heartbreaking! May God grant peace to the departed soul. Humble tribute!," the Samajwadi Party posted on social media platform X.

Yogi Adityanath Calls Demise Heartbreaking

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said that the 'sudden demise' of Prateek Yadav was "extremely heartbreaking" while extending his condolences to his family.

He wrote, “The sudden demise of Mr. Prateek Yadav, son of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and ‘Padma Vibhushan’, and husband of Mrs. Aparna Yadav, Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, is deeply saddening. Humble condolences." 

“My condolences are with the bereaved family. We pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti,” on X.

Postmortem Confirms Cardiorespiratory Collapse

The postmortem report on Prateek Yadav's body reveals that he died of a massive blockage in the blood vessels of lungs causing collapse of heart and respiratory system. The provisional cause of death was declared as "Cardiorespiratory collapse due to massive pulmonary thromboembolism" according to the post mortem report.

Simply put doctors say there was a huge blood clot causing blood not to flow to the lungs causing his breathing and heart to fail. The report further said the doctors preserved the entire heart along with a clot-like mass recovered from the lungs in formalin for thorough histopathological examination.

This is the first order issued by the actor-turned-politician, whose party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam won big in last month’s Assembly election. 

717 TASMAC Shops to Close Soon

The order is to be implemented within two weeks for the public good, said a press release. 

The release said, "With the welfare of the general public in mind, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay, has issued orders to close - within two weeks - 717 retail liquor shops situated within a 500-meter radius of places of worship, educational institutions, and bus stands."

“TASMAC currently operates 4,765 liquor shops in the state, 276 are near places of worship, 186 are near educational institutions, and 255 are near bus stands," it added.

Survey Identified Outlets Near Public Spaces

Soon after taking office as CM, Vijay had ordered a detailed survey of the TASMAC shops to ascertain their location relative to sensitive public places like religious sites, educational institutions and major bus stops. The survey revealed that 276 shops were located near temples, 186 near educational institutions and 255 near bus stands, making a total of 717 liquor shops that were designated to be closed down. 

TVK Begins Promise of Drug-Free Tamil Nadu

Officials indicated that the move will ensure that more stringent regulations are applied to liquor outlets and that public concerns over the proximity of TASMAC outlets to sensitive public areas are addressed. Many supporters following TN politics had already anticipated this move, as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's election manifesto included a "drug-free Tamil Nadu." 

This is considered one of the first actions to enact the party's pre-election promises, even though closing liquor shops has been a persistent demand by many opposition parties, activists and residents due to their considerable revenue. 

The exam, which is mandatory for all undergraduate medical admissions in India, will be re-conducted on new dates, the announcement of which will be made shortly. 

NTA Cancels NEET UG 2026 examination

The National Testing Agency said the cancellation was in accordance with the need to preserve the transparency and sanctity of the national examination and evaluation system and had received the sanction of the government.

"On the basis of inputs subsequently examined by the National Testing Agency and investigative findings shared by law enforcement agencies, the NTA, with the approval of the Government of India, has decided to cancel the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3," the agency said.

No Fresh Registration for Students Required

Despite the difficult situation created by the re-examination to the students and their respective families, the same was inevitable for protection of the sanctity of the national examination system and maintenance of the people's trust in it. 

The NTA added that the registration details, candidatures and center locations will also remain unchanged, so students will not be required to register or pay any additional fee. The exam itself will be re-conducted with NTA's own resources. 

Government Orders CBI Inquiry into Leak Allegations

The central government has also mandated a CBI inquiry to investigate the alleged discrepancies surrounding the exam. 

“The Government of India has further decided to refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations therein. NTA will extend full cooperation to the Bureau and will provide all materials, records, and assistance the inquiry requires," the agency said.

Guess Paper Claims Spark Integrity Concerns

This comes after evidence was found indicating that a so-called "guess paper," that supposedly contains most of the same questions as the real exam, was made available to students prior to the test. According to NTA's statement regarding the cancellations, it made this decision due to the fact that the inputs from central agencies and law enforcement officials demonstrated a lack of transparency and faith in the examination system.

Anti-Sabotage Squad Seizes Gelatin Sticks

A policeman deployed on special duty was on duty when he spotted the gelatin sticks and informed the anti-sabotage squad. An anti-sabotage team arrived at the scene and seized two gelatin sticks. A special task force team has been constituted to inquire into the issue.

The explosives were found 25 ft away from the main road to the Art of Living ashram where Modi was scheduled to arrive on Sunday. Security officials were alerted and panic struck the officials due to the presence of the explosives which led to major concerns regarding the security during the PM's high-profile visit.

Police Investigate Motive Behind Explosives

Police are investigating whether the gelatin was planted or for what purpose. Kaggalipura police are investigating the matter.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Central range) S. Girish stated that there is a task force in place to investigate explosives planted along the convoy route and he congratulated the police constable who spotted the explosives and immediately alerted the anti-sabotage squad.

Officials Assure No Immediate Explosion Threat

Police stated that they were not concerned about any imminent blast as there was no detonator with the gelatin sticks and were concerned whether the gelatin was planted to cause alarm and attraction during PM Modi's visit.

"There was no possibility of an explosion as no detonator was found. We suspect someone who has issues with the Art of Living may have dropped the gelatin sticks at the spot to create panic. However, the investigation is on from all possible angles," a police officer said.

Man Detained After Hoax Threat Calls

Meanwhile, 40-year-old Lohit of Koramangala has been detained as he allegedly called the police around 7:30am stating that there were bomb blasts in HAL airport and Art of Living ashram. However, Lohit's involvement is unlikely as they think it is unrelated. He has previously been held in similar incidents before Modi visits. It is learned he is mentally unwell.

PM Asks People to Save Petrol and Diesel

Addressing a large public gathering in Hyderabad, Modi highlighted that India lacks oil wells to a large extent, which also becomes a reason for saving of petrol and diesel by the citizens.

He said, "When the supply chain continues to be in crisis, no matter what measures we take, the difficulties only increase. Therefore, now we must fight unitedly, keeping the country and Mother India first. We must remember that patriotism is not just about dying for the country. Living for the country and fulfilling our duties to the country is also patriotism.”

Car-pooling and Work From Home Encouraged

The Prime Minister requested the citizens to try car-pooling and travel through metro trains where available and even promoted electric vehicles (EV). Sending the couriers should be done through the rail networks, he requested.

"During COVID-19 pandemic, facilities like work from home, online meetings, video conferencing were used. Today, we should start using them again. Work from home, online meetings, video conferencing must be prioritised again," Modi said.

Citizens Urged to Avoid Foreign Vacations

The PM urged the contry's people to shun overseas holidays, abroad wedding parties, among others in order to save foreign exchange. 

“The growing culture of weddings abroad, travelling abroad and vacationing abroad is becoming prevalent among the middle class. We must decide that during this time of crisis, we should postpone travelling abroad for at least a year,” he said.

PM Advises Against Buying Gold Items

Modi asked to forego the luxury of buying non-essential gold products for a year, whereas in case of families, to avoid usage of edible oils which also aids both nation as well as the citizen in terms of their health and money.

The citizen should instead try to support made-in-India and local products from daily items such as footwear, bags and other accessories to locally manufactured and supported business establishments.

Leavitt Announces Birth Of Daughter

On Thursday, the White House Press Secretary announced the arrival of her child, a daughter named Viviana and posted a photo of her cradling the baby daughter to her breast in a nursery and thanking people who sent her prayers throughout her pregnancy.

Leavitt said, “On May 1st, Viviana aka 'Vivi' joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love".

"She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble," she added on social media platform X.

Iran Links Baby Post To Minab Tragedy

Iran congratulated Leavitt on the birth of her daughter and criticized her on the school bombing in Minab claiming that the children killed there were no different from her daughter.

The Iranian Embassy in Armenia said, " Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable. Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children. When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children" on X.

Minab School Strike Claimed Many Lives

73 boys and 47 girls died in the air raid on an elementary school in Minab on 28 February. The bombing was carried out as the USA and Israel launched attacks on targets across Iran. Retaliating against this, Tehran launched air strikes against targets in Israel and countries in the Gulf.

In addition to the children killed there were 26 teachers, 7 parents, a school bus driver and a pharmacy worker at the clinic beside the school.

Leavitt Earlier Defended US Military Actions

Last month before taking her maternity leave Leavitt, as White House Press Secretary, was one of the key faces that relentlessly pushed the war policy of the Trump administration. In March in response to a question from the press regarding the US role in the bombing of the Minab school bombing stated that the US was not targeting civilians.

"While the Department of War is currently investigating this matter, the Iranian regime targets civilians and children, not the United States of America," Leavitt had said.

Emotional Moment At Oath Ceremony

PM Modi had an emotional meeting with the Sarkar as he touched the latter's feet as a gesture of reverence.

Sarkar’s Decades Of BJP Service

Sarkar, who is considered one of the very few first grassroots workers associated with the nationalist movement post-Independence India, was the first BJP district President of the Siliguri organisational district and travelled to Kashmir along with Syama Prasad Mookerjee in 1952 for hoisting the Indian tricolour and was arrested in Kashmir.

Even at the age of 97, he continues to be a prominent worker. In 1980, Sarkar was appointed organisational in-charge for West Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling districts when the party was first formed and recruited close to 10,000 members to the party in just one year.

BJP Workers Cheer For Modi In Kolkata

The Prime Minister reached the State on Saturday to witness the oath-taking ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari. On his arrival, he reached Brigade Parade Grounds along with the Chief Minister-designate Suvendu Adhikari and state president Samik Bhattacharya and took a ride in an open jeep to wave at thousands of BJP workers and supporters who were present to witness the ceremony. 

Modi arrived amid thousands of "Jai Shri Ram" chants and was seen waving at his supporters from an open vehicle. He landed in Kolkata shortly before 10 am and later reached Race Course ground before proceeding to the Brigade Parade Grounds by road from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

Searches Conducted in Delhi and Gurugram

The teams from ED arrived at the Industries Minister's official residence in sector 2, Chandigarh around 7 am and started searches slightly after 7.25 am. As many as nearly 20 vehicles entered the residential complex of Arora whereas three dozens of CIA personnel and Special Forces were also deputed at his residence in order to provide security. Along with Chandigarh, search operations have also been carried out at two places in Delhi and in Hampton Sky Realty Ltd in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram.

Kejriwal Attacks BJP over ED Action

Lashing out at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ED raids, Arvind Kejriwal said that the people of Punjab are unhappy with the BJP's alleged misuse of central agencies such as the ED.

“A Punjabi will give you everything he has out of love, but if you shove him around, he'll hit back with full force. Modi ji, go ahead and carry out four more ED raids - BJP's deposits on all their seats will get forfeited. The ones you arrest will be out in four days, but the BJP won't be fit to set foot in Punjab for the next twenty years,” he said on social media platform X.

Bhagwant Mann Calls Agencies Political Tools

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann slammed the BJP and claimed that the central agencies such as ED, CBI and the IT department were being used as political weapons.

“For a long time, they have been using them for their politics. Be it Maharashtra, Odisha, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal. Now, Punjab is on their target," Mann said.

"The purpose of ED raids is not to recover black money or documents. The real intention is to pressure leaders into joining the BJP by threatening their businesses and reputation," he added.

Arora Faced Earlier ED Raids Too

In April, Arora and entities related to him were also raided by the ED, but under the civil proceedings of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Following the action, Arora had stated that he would cooperate fully with all investigating agencies and that the truth would ultimately come out.

In January 2024 he also had to undergo ED raids in relation to an ongoing money laundering case against him, wherein the ED is looking into allegations of alleged misuse of industrial plots for residential projects, and back then he was a Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha.

Probe Linked to Fake GST Transactions

The current searches are part of a newly registered case under the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). According to the agency, the money laundering probe relates to fake GST purchases of mobile phones worth over Rs 100 crore and the subsequent exports are alleged to have been utilized to round trip illicit funds from Dubai to India. It further claimed that fake GST purchase bills were allegedly taken from non-existent firms in Delhi to fraudulently claim input tax credit (ITC).

Grand Swearing-In Ceremony On Saturday

Adhikari and his Council of Ministers are scheduled to be sworn at a grand ceremony at the Brigade Parade Grounds on Saturday, with the Prime Minister, top Union ministers and some 20 BJP-ruled state CMs likely to attend in large numbers. 

BJP won the West Bengal assembly elections historically and ended the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress(TMC) 15 years in power. The West Bengal Governor RN Ravi had dissolved the state assembly on Thursday which gave the way for the new government. 

This current assembly was formed in May 2021 after Mamata Banerjee-led TMC won assembly elections, and the dissolution marks the end of the current assembly following the recently-held two phases of elections. 

Notification issued under Article 174

A government order from Lok Bhavan, Kolkata, has said that the Governor has used the powers vested under sub-clause (b) of Clause(2) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, to dissolve the Assembly with effect from May 7. 

“In exercise of the power conferred on me by sub-clause (b) of Clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, I hereby dissolve the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal with effect from 07th of May, 2026,” the official notification said.

Banerjee Refuses to Resign

TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee met newly-elected MLAs on Wednesday, and said she will continue as the Chief Minister of West Bengal even after poll results. 

“If we have not lost the election, then why should I go to Raj Bhavan? I am not taking oath. And, why do I have to resign? We didn’t lose. It is their forceful attempt to defeat us. Our fight was not against BIP but against the EC,” she said.

Mamata attacks BJP and EC

Banerjee has accused the ruling BJP government of booth rigging, ballot stuffing, and EVM manipulation during the state assembly elections. She further accused the Election Commission of collusion with the BJP for overthrowing her government and described the win as "immoral". 

Banerjee also said that the TMC has "morally defeated" the BJP. Banerjee's refusal to step down had led to an unprecedented political scenario in the state, thus raising concerns over a possible constitutional crisis in West Bengal. 

Yadav Praises TMC’s Election Fight

The meeting was cordial according to the party's official sources, in which TMC National general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was also present. According to party sources, the three leaders exchanged pleasantries. 

According to sources, the conversation held at the meeting was constructive with Akhilesh Yadav telling Abhishek Banerjee, "What a commendable battle you all have fought." He also told Mamata Banerjee, "Didi, you have not lost."

SP Chief Alleges Election Manipulation

Talking to the reporters after meeting Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that elections were manipulated with what he called 'multi-layered mafiagiri'.

“Today, all Opposition leaders must stand together against election fraud. When elections were held honestly, Didi won. This time, no one could have imagined such manipulation involving the BJP, the Election Commission and others working together,” Yadav said.

BJP Accused Of Misusing Agencies

Yadav also blamed BJP for weakening democratic institutions. He also questioned the political violence taking place in the state, citing attacks on workers and damages caused to offices as examples and asking, who would be held accountable for the security lapse during polls?

Further allegations of an 'excessive presence' of central forces made a "parallel structure" during polls were also cited by Akhilesh, who alleged personnel from many states like Uttar Pradesh were brought to organize polling.

On the killing of Suvendu Adhikari's personal assistant Chandranath Rath , Yadav alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was responsible and demanded that his statement be recorded.

“How did Suvendu Adhikari’s PA get murdered? The Home Minister must answer how this happened,” he said.

On May 5th, Mamata refused to resign as chief minister saying her party had won but the elections were manipulated by the EC, Central forces and BJP. PM Modi Pays Tribute To Armed Forces

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also changed his social media display pictures to commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor and asked all other citizens to do the same as a tribute to India's armed forces and their successful undertaking.

Modi's profile pictures on all his social media accounts-X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp channel-were changed to an image bearing the name 'Operation Sindoor' against a black background. The display picture included the Indian tricolour, and one of the 'O's within the word 'SINDOOR' had been filled with vermilion -a traditional symbol of married Hindu women.

Operation Sindoor Launched After Pahalgam Attack

Launched in the early hours of May 7, 2025, Operation Sindoor was initiated after an April 22 terror attack occurred in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, claiming the lives of 26 civilians, predominantly tourists, as attackers opened fire on a group of unsuspecting visitors. 

India launched pinpoint strikes targeting terror-related infrastructure. The Indian government clarified that the strikes were carefully planned as focused, measured and non-escalatory, and no Pakistani military installations were attacked.

The resultant days saw intensified border tensions, including cross-border firings and aerial confrontations between both nations, until military activity was called off by both sides on May 10, following dialogue between their Directors General of Military Operations.

Rath Shot Dead In Madhyamgram

The incident occurred at Madhyamgram in the North 24 Parganas district and Rath sustained bullet injuries in his head, chest and stomach, after which he was rushed to hospital and was declared dead.

The visual from the murder site shows that the bullet fired to kill Chandranath Rath had broken the glass of the car in which he was travelling and his car, marked with 'West Bengal Legislative Assembly On Duty' symbol was covered in blood after the incident.

Adhikari Calls Murder Heart-Wrenching

At around midnight, Suvendu Adhikari arrived at the hospital and called the killing "heart-wrenching". The BJP leader added that attackers carried out prior recce before carrying out the killing and termed the incident as cold-blooded and premeditated murder.

Adhikari said: “The killing of my aide Chandranath Rath is heart-wrenching; we condemn this. We appeal to everyone not to take the law into their own hands.”

He added, “The DGP assured me police will investigate the cold-blooded murder of my aide Chandranath Rath. Besides my aide, one of our cadres was shot at in Basirhat and another stabbed in Baranagar.”

TMC Alleges Attacks On Party Workers

BJP accused the Trinamool Congress of the attacks and questioned who is to be blamed now after the death. The TMC hit back saying that its workers are being targeted in different districts.

The party said: “We strongly condemn the brutal murder of Chandranath Rath in Madhyamgram tonight, along with the killing of three other TMC workers in incidents of post-poll violence allegedly carried out by BJP-backed miscreants over the last three days, despite the Model Code of Conduct being in force.”

Eyewitnesses Claim Attack Was Pre-Planned

An eyewitness at the scene said that the SUV in which Rath was travelling was intercepted by a small four-wheeler near Doharia junction and thereafter a man riding on a bike fired bullets at close range and they later abandoned the car and escaped on the bike. Another eyewitness at the murder of Chandra said that the firing at him was done from a close range and that it was a planned murder.

Hyderabad Post Huge Total of 235 Runs

Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan hit fifties as SRH managed 235/4 after being asked to bat. Abhishek Sharma was sent back after scoring just 35 off 13 balls while Travis Head 38 off 19 balls. Punjab Collapse Early In Big Chase

PBKS were off to a bad start (4/2 in 1.1 overs and 23/3 in 3.2 overs) in the second innings and never managed to recover from there. SRH Tops As Punjab Slip Down to Second

The win for SRH takes the PBKS's spot at the top of the table after spending the first week of April there and the third loss for Punjab in a row, placing them one point above Gujarat Titans and in danger of missing out on the 2026 Indian Premier League Playoffs.

An Indian ship MV Gautam had developed a complete breakdown in technology while on its way from Oman to India and thus got stuck in the sea.

Pakistan Navy Sends Rescue Support

The Pakistan Navy provided rescue and assistance to the stranded crew of 6 Indians and 1 Indonesian upon being contacted by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai asking them for support.

After the alert, the Pakistan Navy responded swiftly by dispatching the ship PMSS Kashmir to carry out the rescue mission. Food, medicine and other supplies were provided to the MV Gautam in order to ensure the well being of the stranded crew and also stabilize the vessel, it was added.

The Pakistani Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) is also understood to have lent its support to the rescue efforts.

ICG Discovers Fault in Main Generator 

The ICG was apparently informed of the incident at 11:22pm on May 4th and also learned that the incident happened due to the failure of the generator on May 3rd leading to a complete power failure onboard MV Gautam, said NDTV sources. At the time the incident happened, MV Gautam was in Pakistan's Search and Rescue Region (SRR). 

ICG Ship Rajratan Sent for Assistance

The ICG ship Rajratan was dispatched in response and on approaching the ship was able to see that it had limited use of communication, primarily restricted to VHF radio and AIS on battery backup.

"It was further ascertained that technical personnel from the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) had boarded the vessel. Following assessment, the main generator was declared beyond repair," the sources said.

Although initially, police claimed the explosion in Jalandhar occurred due to the scooty catching fire, sources added that initial probe pointed towards the usage of improvised explosive devices in both blasts. 

Scooty Explosion Sparks Panic In Jalandhar

A scooty parked just outside the BSF Punjab Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar caught fire around 8 pm which panicked the area and the locals there claim to have heard an explosion-like sound from the scooty. The headquarters is located on the road which connects Jalandhar with the Amritsar-Delhi highway. 

As soon as the accident occurred the locals started to fear that a bomb explosion took place outside the headquarters and after receiving the report the police quickly took charge of the situation and made an immediate alert, Police did not report any casualties and further investigation to check how the scooty caught fire are going on however, CCTV visuals of the scooty suddenly exploding then taking the form of fire have also surfaced. 

Second Blast in Khasa Cantonment Amritsar

A blast occurred near the Khasa Cantonment area of Amritsar a few hours later around 10:50pm and quick action was taken by the security and police department. No loss of life and injuries have been reported but the whole city was alerted after the two explosions occurred, police said it was an unknown suspect. 

After police received information, senior army officials posted in the Cantonment rushed to the spot along with their security officers and the Bomb Disposal Squad. Samples have been sent for the tests to find out if the explosion was carried out by the locals and a preliminary inquiry into the whole matter is on and further information is expected. 

Opposition Slams Punjab Security Situation

Opposition parties are blaming the AAP government and saying the ruling government is responsible for this. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said that the two blasts near two army installations in Punjab in three hours is a sign of deteriorating security situation in the state. 

He said, "A blast in a delivery scooter in a crowded area exposes a serious collapse of law and order. Punjab is a sensitive border state; such incidents raise grave national security concerns. Yet, while the AAP-led Punjab government is busy parading its MLAs before the President, the BJP-led Centre is equally distracted and failing in its responsibility to ensure security. People deserve safety, not political theatre.”

DC Batting Struggles After Decent Start

Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first. The openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka gave the team a positive start hitting a couple of boundaries each but they failed to convert their start. Nissanka was caught in the deep mistiming a slower delivery by Mukesh Choudhary for 19 while KL Rahul was caught in the deep hitting straight to the spinner Akeal Hosein. Delhi reached 37/2 in powerplay. 

Middle order was further dismantled by left arm chinaman Noor Ahmad as he bagged two wickets of Karun Nair and Nitish Rana who went for risky sweep shots to left arm spinner. Later some fighting display from Tristan Stubbs (38 from 31) and Sameer Rizvi (40* from 24) took DC closer to 150 with 65 runs partnership in the death overs.

PM Modi Condemns Civilian Targeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also denounced the strike, calling "unacceptable" the targeting of civilians and infrastructure.

Modi said on social media platform X, "Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable.

MEA Calls Strike Unacceptable

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had described the attack as "unacceptable". In the statement New Delhi stated it still stands for diplomacy and dialogue to overcome the situation so that peace and stability can be restored all over the Middle East.

Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable. We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians," in a post on X.

UAE Reports Missile Interceptions

On Friday, a large fire broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone as authorities stated that it had occurred due to a drone attack from Iran. For the first time, an attack occurred with that magnitude of damage in the UAE since a cease-fire was in progress last month.

The UAE Ministry of Defence had reported that 12 Ballistic missiles, four drones and three cruise missiles had been detected while entering the country and had been intercepted yesterday. Residents all over the UAE received an emergency warning – since the ceasefire had been active – that urged them to seek shelter away from windows and open spaces.

UAE Warns of Strong Response

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the drone and missile strikes by Iran. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they deemed it as a serious escalation and violation of the UN Charter and International law and said it threatened the safety and stability of the nation. 

UAE made it clear that it would not tolerate such actions and has kept its right to react according to the international laws for protecting its region and residents. Furthermore it declared targeting citizens and infrastructure a transgression that is not acceptable under legal and human aspects, thus asking for an instant ceasefire and putting the complete responsibility on Iran for the attack and the results thereof.

Gujarat Dominates Punjab in Last Over Thriller

Suryansh Shedge smashed an impressive 57 from 29 balls as PBKS recovered from a disastrous start to score 163 for 9. Batting first, Punjab were reeling at 47/5 within the 9th over of the innings. However, Suryansh Shedge brought Punjab back with a partnership of 79 runs off 44 balls with Marcus Stoinis (40) for the 6th wicket. As soon as the pair got out, Punjab lost momentum. 

For Gujarat, Jason Holder had an impressive bowling spell of 4 for 24, Kagiso Rabada (2 for 22) and Mohammed Siraj (2 for 28) took two wickets each. In the run chase, Said Sudharsan's well paced innings of 57 off 41 kept Gujarat in the chase but once they were dismissed, Punjab pulled themselves back into the game as they managed to pressure the batting side and the game was taken down to the final over. GT required 3 runs of two balls, they won with the help of Washington Sundar smashing a six to end the game.

Gujarat Move Closer in Tight Playoff Race

Punjab Kings currently stand at top of the table however, their lead is beginning to shrink and there are now four teams who share 12 points from second to fifth position. Gujarat Titans are finally beginning to find their groove at the right time along with some teams in the mid table.

GT are the only team within the top 5 who currently have a negative NRR which seems to be down to their approach of batting and problems with the middle order. If the chase for fourth position comes down to NRR, they are not in a very strong position. Though the three consecutive wins at this moment puts GT firmly in the race for the playoffs.

Shubman Gill, GT captain said, “I think in chases like these, we would have liked to not take it as deep as it went but two crucial points. This is not the kind of wicket where we'll chase in 15-16 overs. So we thought maybe one over before or a couple of overs before. That was the talk. If someone is set they should go deep because it's not easy to hit from ball 1. Length balls weren't coming the way they do on other wickets. It was important for the batsman who is set. Luckily we had Washi and he finished the game for us. Just sent the best batter that we thought in that situation,” regarding the match win.

The blaze is believed to have begun in one of the higher floors in the four-storey building. The emergency services came to the spot upon notification and evacuated more than 10 people from the building. The injured who are believed to have smoke inhalation are undergoing medical treatment.

CM Rekha Gupta Extends Condolences

Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister of Delhi has described it as deeply tragic and has extended her deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their dear ones in the blaze. She has said that while the injured persons are being attended to, she prays for their quick recovery. The Chief Minister assured the public that the government is monitoring the situation constantly and providing necessary relief. 

LG Saxena Orders Full Assistance

The Lt Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena has sent condolences to all the victims' families and has urged for the victims to be taken care of medically and helpfully. Lieutenant Governor has said that a team of fire fighters and emergency services was already in place trying to bring the situation under control and that he wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured and strength for the family members who have lost their loved ones. The fire has now been controlled and efforts are on to recover any remaining individuals. 

Police Identify Victims After Deadly Fire

The bodies were recovered from the second floor where the blaze was strongest, said Rajendra Prasad Meena, DCP, Shahdara District. There were three persons in the locked stairwell, while five others were found on the second floor and one in the first floor. 

The dead are Arvind Jain (60), Anita Jain (58) and their son Nishant Jain (35), his wife Anchal Jain (33) and grandson Akash Jain, and three from another family, Nitin Jain (50) and his wife Shailey Jain (48) and their son Samyak Jain (25). Shikha Jain (45) and Naveen Jain (48) (her husband) were found on the first floor, the former was found dead and the latter was injured.

It said, “India, launches Cell Broadcast using indigenous technology, for instant disaster alerting service for its citizens. Alert citizens, safe nation. No action is required by the public upon receipt of this message. This is a test message. - Government of India.”

System to Warn During Natural Disasters

Cell broadcast notifications are a significant update to sms-based alerts. They have been made to obtain quick attention and would certainly overtake some other telephone options if utilized, to trigger loud alarms with on-screen notifications whether a person has their smartphone turned off.
